If you retire from YouTube let it be known this is one viewer who learned a lifetime of machining from the best shop teacher in the world.
You will be sorely missed but you deserve to enjoy time with your family.
Wishing you the best,
Marv Linke.
ps, I guessed $500

It will be a sad day on earth the day those videos are posted to YouTube Mr Pete. God's speed and good luck from Ireland.

I started watching your videos more than 10 years ago after I bought an ancient Atlas 10-D lathe (1937 model) and found you after doing a search on youtube for "Atlas lathe"..it was your 4-jaw demonstration. I've not missed a video since and what I have learned from you since that time gave me the confidence to purchase a larger and more modern 12x36 machine and a milling machine as well. Your teaching has enabled me to use those machines for both fun and for profit and your videos on bench work have expanded my knowledge in those areas also. I owe you a lot, Mr. Pete..as do so many other viewers of your channel. Not only for the instruction but for the sheer entertainment and the life lessons you have taught us, probably without realizing you were setting such a wonderful example for so many of us. As I conclude my comment as I always do..know that it is heartfelt: Thanks, Mr. Pete! :-)

My grandfather was a tool and die maker. I got his machinist box prior to his passing so I got a chance to talk to him about the tools that were in the box. I still use the tools to this day 50 years later. Many have his name etched on them. It gives me a feeling of connection with him when I use them. There is a lot of Starrett but there are several Craftsman tools in the lot. He claimed that they were made by Starrett at the time. I don't know if that is true or not but they are good quality made in USA tools non the less. Thanks for sharing.

That grin you're trying to hide in the beginning. You were really pleased with that starrett score.

I loved my Carpentry shop teacher, and I love you. You two are great men, willing to teach, be patient, and share your hard learned wisdom with everyone willing to listen. You both have a great since of HUMOR too. 25 years ago was my last wood shop class with Mr. Wright. I miss it. You earned it, spend it and enjoy it on whatever you desire!

My 74 year old dad managed to fight off the virus, but sincerely hope that you and your family don't have to go through that. Please take care, but looks like you are enjoying life whilst you can, nice box!

Wow Mr. Pete! I think the toolbox is awesome. $525.00! You live in a machinist rich area lucky. When you opened the drawer and pulled that starrett level out well that just made my day. I would call that tool box a treasure chest. Thanks for the videos. I am addicted to your channel.

Sorry, Lyle that I'm behind - was really sick this week. I always enjoy tours of Kennedy and Gerstner tool boxes people have purchased at estate sales, auctions, or inherited. No one should be jealous. You have put in the years and the effort. You share the fun of exploring the box and the tools, and you certainly didn't have to do that - you did it to share with other people and we love you for it. Ignore the trolls. Any attention to them just encourages more poor behavior, and none of them know you well enough to merit your concern. Wishing you good health!

While I have yet to even have a lathe or hobby shop, the lesson's and wisdom you share with us is priceless. From watching you I've learned to plan ahead, work out what I wish to make then acquire just what is needed to make that thing. If I need another tool, instead of buying a ready made, can I make it myself???
So much to I can't thank you enough Sir. On this contagion that's going I know that me, my brother and mother had the bug back in january, we just thought it was a bad flu or cold. I took a day off work, so did brother. We're still around, it's not the nicest thing but people are surviving it. The media don't report that as it doesn't grab headlines as quickly.... don't worry, you'll be fine.

Awesome score Mr. Pete! As I already told you, I picked up a loaded Kennedy Box for $300 last month. I went to look at it because the add said "some tooling". Turns out the guy was a Starrett hoarder and the box contained thousands of dollars of tools / tooling. I'm envious of your Starrett level...nice score.. That was almost worth the price of admission right there. Thanks for what you do. -Scott

Lyle, you have been a real inspiration to me as I restore our 1939 Craftsman master metal lathe. You 12 inch Atlas lathe vids have been quite helpful. Thank You so very much!

Please Mr Pete do not leave us. I enjoy you very much. Watching the News and the Boob Tube is out of the question. Seeing you is like having an old friend stop by. I must admit that I do not know half of what Tools I am looking at but it is a lot of fun and instructional. It is always nice to see something well built and made to last. I am a firearms armorer and have a few Starrett tools. They are very impressive. Thanks as always for stopping by. Please drop by anytime you are in the neighborhood.
