Silent Hill 2 Remake - Stillness Ending

SPOILER WARNING - Silent Hill 2 remake has several endings you can unlock via various tasks and requirements. This particular Silent Hill 2 Remake ending is referred to as "Stillness."

This ending seems to imply that although James couldn't bear to go on living and felt forced to take his life in the same way as the "In water" ending he at least got to hear Mary accept his apology. Additionally he has the real letter from the "leave" ending which also implies that although he read it (since it's opened) and Mary told him to go on living he couldn't bring himself to go on, her words of encouragement and love not enough which might be even sadder than the regular in water ending.

This is definitely my favorite ending. I really believe that James wholeheartedly loved Mary. Any ending that suggests otherwise is lame. I especially like this ending because I always saw the "letters from Mary" as a deception tactic that the town was using to lure James back. In this ending, Mary talks directly to him and so he knows that the letters are a trap.

I feel like the theory around lately is surely true, and james did not off himself here. The sound of the car is different, and James had a "leave" ending here basically, because she forgiven him and reassured him she will be waiting. The car going to the lake is surely just the car and the body, and its like a final funeral, marys body staying at their special place. This game is such a masterpiece, holy fck
