The Most Innovative Sim Product for 2019 - GS5 GSeat Review

When it comes to sim racing the seat of our pants feeling is what has been missing since the beginning. We have thrown various devices to try to create these sensations and Sim Xperience has created the GS5 GSeat. With the "G" referring to G Forces or gravitational forces to be more specific.

The GSeat looks to add the realism of pressure in your seat much like a real driver feels when going through corners at full speed. It is an innovative design and a one of a kind product built specifically for sim racing.

The GSeat is made by Sim Xperience, The makers of Full Motion Sim Rigs and the powerful software Sim Commander. Sim Commander takes in game physics and turns it into Motion, Vibration, Force Feedback and now G Forces.

In this review Shaun Cole starts off by taking you through the details of the seat an dhow it works. He will then move on to assembly, installation and tuning for sim racing. Then its on to driving on track to see how it works and then he will finish things off with the Good, The not so Good and the Bottom line on the GS5 GSeat by Sim Xperience.

Nice to see Shaun show off his gamer muscles in the thumbnail!

This is one of the best upgrades to my rig, combined with VR with a DD wheel and good pedals it's incredible and good value for money when you take everything into consideration.

I have a GS-5 plus a SimXperience Stage 4 motion rig. I also run a GS-4 on my DIY motion rig. And I can tell you that they do work really well with other motion platforms. The GS-5 is great standalone, but as Shaun said, as an addition to existing motion it really fills in those aspects that the motion rig can't do, like the sustained G forces. I also run the mini transducers on my GS-5 (The photo of the mini pucks were from my rig) and they also make a good addition. As Shaun said. It really is like extra layers of depth, once you add GS-5, motion, SimVibe, wind, DD wheel and VR then you are getting pretty close to reality.

I’m loving the fact that we are actually going to the point of realism. Thanks. Great review

As a GS5 owner this review is spot on. Great job Shaun.

If money were not the main consideration, would you buy this or the Next Level Racing Motion Platform V3 for road racing in openwheel formula cars?

Hi there :)  I found no technical description about the system which may help me (like motor type, signal processing and so on)

Can anyone help?

This was done before with a Formula 1 game that was in arcades in the early 90's. It was done with airbags though. I don't recall the name of it racer-game. It was around the same time SEGA Rally was around.

I wonder if it helps to remove vr sickness.

Did you ever combine this with motion? Would be great to get your thoughts. How about with GBelt?

Shaun, 5 years on how are you liking the seat still? Have you done a review on the G-Belt?

I saw this concept demonstrated on inside SIM racing several years ago. It looked like a great idea.

Does it work with DCS? And can the seat be slanted at 30 degrees cause then I want this for F-16 simulation :)

Tried it - no g effect at all. You can’t replace the inner ear and real gravity feel of being tilted back and forth, roll etc.

VR Roller Coaster simulation with this seat would be epic let alone driving a car

Would this work for a flight sim? or is there a better option out there for flight simulators?

This plus the belts that you can get + buttkickers + nextlvl platform v3 + traction plus platform ... is it possible to run them all together?

I've had my GS-5 for a while now and it does take quite a bit to set up correctly but it really does add a great new level of immersion. I agree it is a bit noisy and does take too long to get it dialed in.
