All thru my Radio Career I was asked about my Trademarked name  TheMojoMan. I was inspired to create it after hearing Ann Cole singing the ORIGINAL song "Got My Mojo Workin' "written especially for her.  I saw first saw her sing it in a Johnny Otis Roadshow when I was in LA in 1959 the song was written by Preston "Red" Foster and was COPIED by Muddy Waters, , now don't get me wrong I love Muddy Waters and his whole body of work but we all like the true story, , don't we? Sol Rabinowitz first recorded the song by Ann Cole on his NYC record company BATON RECORDS in 1956.Sol Rabinowitz said this about Preston "Red" Foster:
   I realized he had a way with lyrics, and felt that he might create something really worthwhile. One day he walked in with Mo Jo. I was planning a second session with Ann Cole, and the song seemed perfect for her. She loved it and learned it in an hour. We recorded the song a few days She was booked for a tour throughout the South as the opening act for Muddy Waters. She performed with his band backing her up. I happened to see the show at a club... and heard her singing Mo Jo in the show. I had asked her not to perform any unreleased songs on stage, to avoid just this Ann Cole ignored me and was singing Mo Jo all over the South with Muddy's band. He went back to Chicago after the tour and told Leonard Chess of Chess Records he had written a new song that he wanted to record. It was recorded and released the same week as the Ann Cole I called [Leonard Chess] to tell him he had recorded a song published by my company and that he owed us royalties for the sales of Muddy's recording. He signed a mechanical license agreeing to pay us royalties and I thought the problem was solved. Over the years we have had legal action concerning the song, but today, that is over, and the song is now acknowledged to be Preston Foster's. Even today because of the various artists that have recorded the song Preston Foster makes between $20-30, 000 a year, , , nice paycheck. I trademarked  TheMojoMan in 1959  (ustm) # 2 343 775.   Thanks

This is my absolute favorite blues song ever. Love hearing it at Chicago Blues Fest. Today would've been the first day. It was canceled because of the virus, but even if it wasn't all this shit going on would've canceled it anyways. Would've been my 20th year in a row. I'm fucking bummed. awesome ..best tempo ...it is not manic like the later versions all seemed to be...it's not racing, just steady paced and thereby band is in better control of groove. it loses a lot the way most people play it these days....like its a race to get to the finish ! haha
