Something I noticed on a rewatch is that the doctor seems more genuinely hurt that she’d ask why he’s helping her than the fact that she betrayed him

I know it was for the "Gotcha" moment, but The Doctor assumed Danny's going straight to Hell

It’d be darkly hilarious if the location ended up being just the morgue where Danny’s body is.

"Ask where is Danny Pink now"

The TARDIS thinks for a moment, scans around, and materializes in a hospital morgue.
Roll end credits.

One of 12's best moments. Capaldi is king.

"Do you think I care so little that betraying me would make a difference?" Come to think of it, this explains the Doctor's relationship with the Master too.

I think this is one of my favourite moments of that first season, besides "Am I a good man?". That unconditional love, that was always there even with Matt Smith but easier to mistake for romantic love with his younger face

I've said it once I'll say it again. Peter Capaldi is the best actor to ever play the doctor and the best doctor the show has ever had. His acting commands every scene he is in and hooks you to every word. Series 8, I feel has only gotten better with time because it did a great job showing 12's character development. I did not really care for Clara during her short time with Matt Smith but series 8 made me lover her. The chemistry between Peter and Jenna is astounding and they are one of the best TARDIS teams.

The first time.I watched this scene. His "Go to Hell".... and the look on his face hits so HARD when she's about to walk out the door....

I feel like the doctor meant it when he said go to hell but didn’t have the heart to hate her

This scene cemented the 12th doctor and Clara as my favorite pair of Doctor and Companion of all time. Also 12tg is without a doubt my favorite Doctor

There's usually a moment in the beginning of a Doctor's tenure, when the actor BECOMES the Doctor and not just a replacement. When Capaldi says "Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?", he BECAME the Doctor.

The problem with this series is that Danny Pink needed to be a character on par with Clara & the Doctor. I never believed he inspired that much passion.

The Doctor is often called a god and for me this is the reason why. He cared more for Clara than her actions.

I had a close friend utterly betray me like this once. Obviously, not with a time machine, a volcano, and patches that induce a dream state, but I was in the Doctor's shoes of staring at my friend going "how could you do this to me?" He (yes, he) broke down in tears like Clara and I was just silent as he sat down and stared at me whilst crying. He apologised and asked why I wasn't angry (I'm very easily annoyed). Unconsciously quoted the Doctor at him "Do you really think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" We are both huge Whovians so it registered with both of us immediately and we went from crying due to being upset to both of us crying with laughter ("this is a serious situation and you are quoting Doctor Who.")
I'll admit, it did take me a while to trust him as fully as I did beforehand, but it was still "you've been through a lot; I care about you and know you would not do this in your normal state."

This is probably my second favorite overall duo after Ten and Donna. But I have to say they were quite dysfunctional and codependent. In a healthy relationship, I feel like, "Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" only goes so far... and probably not nearly as far as Clara took things.

When he cut her off with "you betrayed me", damn, Clara felt it like a slap, and yet The Doctor was more than willing to let that go.

A strange moment really. I understand why Clara did this, but the Doctor... he really tried to do everything for her. He was even ready to break the laws of time, and I just can't believe it. Other Doctors would never have done that.
