You actually did really well with this. I actually played Sonic R for Windows 98 and I had a broken and unbalanced fun playing it back in the day, it was fun, espically if you're playing as Super Sonic and just skipping part of the tracks.

This is the game that got me into Sonic games: I played it on PC at school in primary 3 during golden time but only got my own working copy and beat it in 2014 or 2015. To me it was "Mad Dash for Xbox but on PC and the difficulty isn't dogshit", with two tracks (Radical City & Reactive Factory in that order) playing like I was racing around inside Pro Pinball Timeshock.

The curved highway and double hill before the slot machine spring is actually similar to a road the school minibus used to take on the way home near where I live, though it used to go through fields in the countryside and it's beside a fuck ugly extraneous housing plot now.

Sonic X (at that time the shitty dub, not the good original), Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic Advance 3 and Sonic Adventure 2 in that order got me hooked, after I couldn't find Sonic R again for a few years nor did I remember the full title in that time. I made sure it was one of the first games I got when I bought a Saturn, next to Tomb Raider 1, Sonic 3D: Flickies Island and Burning Rangers.

The two Pinball tracks I mentioned are my favourites too, along with the Saturn version of Radiant Emerald (which can be added to the PC game with the mod you used). Back in the day, I always played as Sonic and my buddy Ryan Mutch always played as Knuckles. He had a similar experience with Sonic because of this game and he also knows Shadow the Hedgehog is an awesome game too, as did pretty much everyone I knew growing up.

I played this game a year ago and had a decent time. The collect-a-thon aspect of the game made it stick out from other mascot racing titles. Soundtrack was cheesy but actually really good in spite of that. Controls could be better but still. Traveller's Tales (the developers) went on to make other relatively unique kart racers in Toy Story Racer and Muppet RaceMania. Sucks TT is pigeon-holed into Lego stuff now, they did some neat stuff back in the day.

You did great Zonic. IMO, this game had a great soundtrack and the game itself was pretty...well it was an OK game once you get the hang of the controls. I played it from the gems collection so I should know. All and all, great going on your game review, Zonic.

it's better than every mario kart game because it has actual replayability and depth in the tracks, which already makes it more enjoyable in the singleplayer much more than any mario kart. i personally prefer burnout games but sonic r is a quick, yet fun experience that stays true to the original classic sonic games and never fails to be enjoyable even on many re-playthroughs.

Sonic r might be an ok game but god damn do I love it's soundtrack living in the city and number one being my favorites that and they sound like something you'd hear in persona 5's soundtrack which is also a video game soundtrack I love to bits great review by the way I would love to see more in the future XD
