This is also more recently the name of a charity, an international solidarity movement towards those in need founded in Paris, France in 1949 by Catholic priest and Capuchin friar Abbé Pierre. So how do you go about pronouncing this town name? Simply: Emmaus. Emmaus. Emmaus.

Thanks! In the south of England I've heard it pronounced 2 ways, some say em-ay-us and some say emm-ows (like house), good to know how its actually pronounced!
