I tested Drew Barrymore's 'Beautiful Perfect Grind Programmable Single Serve Coffee Maker', an intriguing concept for a product that I wanted to try. Interesting to see what $99 gets you with this unit!

"That's not ground coffee, that's just a piece of bean" is the greatest insult ever towards coffee grinder.

I wish James Hoffman would review every potential item I would purchase; I would effectively wait for his green light on the right socks to wear!

I love the mix of skepticism and hopefulness that is a James Hoffman review of a Walmart Coffee maker

Switched to tea years ago but I am subscribed so I can watch this man read the asterisk on the bottom of the package.

"I wish it was better, but its not". Straight savage... Truly appreciate the honest review.

I think we all knew what the answer would be, but the thorough analysis was worth the journey

This is great feedback that the company could take to heart. It would be amazing if they produced version 2.0 that addressed these issues. It sees like James has done them an amazing service by pointing out the flaws and also explaining how to fix them.

My life goal is to make a subpar coffee product just on the radar enough for james to review it.

In the last 16 minutes, you've taught me more about coffee than I learned in the previous 70 years, and got yourself a new subscriber. Thank you - that was an education.

I think the absolute best thing about this coffee maker, is that it may inspire better ones to compete with it. Which would be nice

I'll never buy this thing, but it's such a pleasure to see James reviewing things and talking coffee

A brutally honest review without being crass or cynical. Thank you for doing good work 👍🏻

I finally got a hand grinder and beans the other day. The grinder is cheap, and not particularly well made, but it gets the job done. I fiddle with the grinder, finally get it mostly ground correctly, and brew a cup. After a lifetime of pre-ground coffee, the experience was transformative. I don't think I can easily go back after this. Thank you James for broadening my horizons.

“You’re watching a 15min video of a man trash talking a coffee machine?” - my wife

This is a great example of how fair James is to whatever he’s reviewing— treating them and their efforts with generosity while also holding them to a standard based on what they’re up to. I will say it would have been a bit more useful to have some more medium to darker roast coffee to test this thing would have been maybe more instructive all around— both its flaws which are not fixable (as you said) as well as maybe a touch better flavor.

I'll say that after watching your videos, I've gone out and gotten an Aeropress Go and I found a used (proper) burr grinder in very good condition from someone who was upgrading. Everything cost me a total of 55 dollars. I love my setup and it makes a very clean, delicious cup of coffee from any beans I like! It isn't extravagant but it beats any coffee I've had at home. I'd recommend it to anyone out there looking to "unlock" that experience, as long as you take care to inspect the burr!

I'm dying that "of course you have" tried custom cutting the paper filter. As we knew you were going to try and and you knew that we knew you were going to try that.

Oh James, never stop being you. It's what we're all here for,

I would like to see ~$250 version of this. Small bean to cup pour over coffee machine with proper burr grinder would be kind of special.

I bought myself a Keurig around 2013. I love it. I have two espresso‘s every morning. I use the re-usable pods so that I can choose how much coffee to put in. I don’t have a decent grinder, I use my magic bullet. However, I have been giving consideration to spending ridiculous sums of money to buy a bean to cup machine. After watching this I don’t know if I will. I fear it will be one more thing to break down. I learned a lot from your video today, thank you for that.
