Disable Unnecessary Services in Windows 10 in 2021

Disabling windows 10 services can free up system resources, which can work great on older computers, I have listed 60 services which i disabled.

If you disable these services, you can speed up Windows 10. To turn off these services in windows 10, type: services into the search box. Then double-click on the services you want to disable.

Warning: Run at your own risk and make sure non of these services are need. You have been warned. I take no responsibility.

Always check if you need that service before you disable it. Smash the LIKE Button 👍

I didn't use the file but looked into each one, disabling most of the REM ones (in the video) -- and It made a HUGE difference in performance. Thank you.

Thanks for showing us this, it made a big difference for me. I play mostly VR games, such ETS 2, ATS, Fallout VR, HL: Alyx etc. I was having frame rate problems with ETS 2 but mostly with ATS. ETS 2 I got 90 fps inbetween cities and 45 fps in most cities, ATS was worse 75 fps outside cities and 35 fps inside cities. Now I temporarly stop about 5 services, and I get in ETS 2 90fps and 90 around most cities, ATS again 90fps and 90fps in most cities. So it does make a big difference. It probably depends on the services you remove to how much power you recover. In fact, so good was the difference in ETS 2 that I was able to put the settings up to High/Ultra on everything except Anti-aliasing. I'm still adding to the super sampling, currently at 200% for ETS2 and 132% for ATS.

Common sense and sound practical judgment concerning tweaking settings goes a long way to properly configure your computers. Unfortunately, we're all looking for that magic bullet to cut corners and do all the work for us without doing the research and understanding it takes to get those wondrous results. Thank you Brian for these videos and keep up the good work.

Respect for all the hard work you've been doing for our benefit. I'd suggest also disabling services that start with the word REMOTE, not just REMOTE REGISTRY (except REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL, if you use the internet service). Some people may need them for work or trouble shooting purposes remotely, but for the majority, for privacy purposes, it's essential to disable them.

The beauty of this suggestion is that this provides a way to document what you did.
I also appreciate the suggestion to set a service to 'manual' instead of 'disable'.
Thanks Brian & mkskrakusnh

I suggest to set services to 'manually' instead 'disabled'. If Windows will need one of these then will start by itself

Wow my process was 107 but after disabling many services it is now 52 processes this has made starting up my PC extremely fast.
Thanks a lot Britec.
Well done.

Just ran it and it's great, thanks :D

Found an error in the script, check for 'sc configTrkWks start=disabled'
This line should be : 'sc config TrkWks start=disabled' thus put a space between 'config' and 'TrkWks'

Thanks, I already optimized the heck out of my pc, but after manually disabling things that I really don't need, made my mouse even more responsive.

Can we make a batch file to return back to the services we had enabled originally? I want to try your settings but I am scared I will not be able to go back to default.

Good video as usual. I like your use of batch files. I still use them as well.
Many of these services are redundant for the average user. I am glad you are warning folks to be careful.

Thanks for the batch file, sheer genius! Something I can move from machine to machine.

Can you please make a row of services that don't really don't leave a risk after disabling it like the Xbox game bar, etc.

Like you say you really have to pin point what's valuable and not valuable to you on your machine keep up the good work my man 👍

He disabled "AVCTP SERVICE", but DON'T DO IT if you use Bluetooth: it may mess up the quality of your audio (as it did mine)!
