The Instinct (Killer Instinct Theme)

One of my favourite fighting arcade games growing up was Killer Instinct and always loved the orginal theme song. I decided to do a version of it, splicing Robin Beanland's original version with hints of Mick Gordon's newer version in there adding a bit of guitar shred from yours truly for good measure!

Had fun working on this in between being in the studio working on new Five Finger Death Punch music and a new solo single coming out soon \m/

I have been obsessed with this song for as long as I can remember. I owned the CD that came Long with the game and played the track "the Instinct" on repeat. This was back in '95 and here we are 2021 and I still listen to it. Now it was covered by Andy James?!?!? My ears are crying with joy!

I was 10yrs old, got admitted to hospital due to an asthma attack back in 94, I had only just got Killer Instinct as gift and didn't want my brothers to play it, so took the cartridge with me. Once I recovered I had to stay in kids ward for a few days for observation, to my surprise there was a games room on the ward for all the sick kids. I told the other kids that I had Killer Instinct, man we played for hours, winner stayed on, such a core memory for me...

Good to see other KI fans here. I remember all those days of throwing controllers against the walls and floor out of frustration from losing to the CPUs lol. It felt good to finally finish Eyedol at the end.

There was a Killer Instinct arcade machine in my small town’s old pizza joint, I used to hang out in there all the time as a kid. The owner let me play on it as much as I wanted and it kept me from having to go back home on days I didn’t want to.
Still get a bit emotional every time I hear it this song, and it is one the first songs I learned on guitar when I picked that up later.
