Dishwasher Pods are a rip off. Do this instead.

Check out these affiliate links for a price comparison.
These are around $20 for 62-76 loads:

This is 75 Oz of dishwasher detergent for the same price but is more then 2 times the amount of detergent (and you might find it even cheaper at your local supermarket).
And the dawn dish soap is only $9

Yes those are affiliate links and I do get a small commission if you purchase through them. But it won't cost you any extra and it helps me make more videos.

And this, kids, is why we NEVER blindly trust everything on the internet. 🙄

You do not want to put dish soap in your dishwasher.

I just fill both prewash and the main wash with that cascade powdered stuff, works just fine

I’m starting to think the things used back in the day work better than what we’re told today. Laundry powder, dish powder, washers with agitators and etc. I think I’m going to go back dish powder for sure, plus it’s not as expensive.

Instead of the dishsoap put some of that powder in the prewash, works much better.

I’ve used baking soda and a few drops of dawn before and my dishes were clean and nothing catastrophic happened. I’m gonna try to dish powder. Thank you for sharing ❤

DO NOT DO THIS!!! If your measurements are off it will flood your washer and it will break eventually. Just go buy detergent or wash the dish by hand the old fashioned way then put them in the dishwasher and let the steam clean the rest.

You are correct about the pods and that using the powder detergents are much cheaper and just as good if not better. You just need to understand how much detergent your individual dishwasher needs. If you're having detergent powder left over after the was, this is because you've used too much.

I made the mistake of putting Dawn in the dishwasher a while ago. DON'T DO THAT. Unless you want to clean up the mess afterwards. You've been warned.

Skip the cascade. I just use a couple drops of dish soap

Instead of putting dish soap in the pre wash section, put powder or liquid detergent. He’s right about the powdered detergent though. Pods are mostly scams.

Put powder in bottle. Easier to dosing. Use powder as prewash.

I appreciate that you took the time to make this video, but there is a lot more to it than that.
In the bricks (pods), those aren’t just pretty colors for marketing. Those are buffers (among other things). I used plain dishwasher detergent powder (Cascade) and it began to wash off a logo on one of my coffee cups. The logo faded and bled leaving streaks on the mug. Using the bricks, this never happened. The powder also leaves a white residue on the dishes (regardless of whether a rinse agent is used or not), while the bricks do not. So they’re not just expensive marketing. They’re more sophisticated than that. Adding liquid dish soap may or may not do a whole lot. If anything, I’d add a SMALL amount on the door for the initial soak cycle to help the hot water loosen the dirt. Beyond that, it’s a waste of money in my opinion.
“Those pods. Just their very design means they’re not going to work very well” (source: trust me, bro)

One should never put liquid dishwashing detergent into an automatic dishwasher. You will get a ton of suds which will leak out all over the place.

I always sprink a little fairy (uks version of dawn) over all the dishes before putting it on use cheap tablets and have the same results as the leading brand tablets took me a while to figure out how much to use

This guy is like Michael Keaton in Mr mom when the washer bubbled and started walking.

I’ve been doing the same thing for years, all the bozos in the comments complaining that it’s bad for the dishwasher don’t know that the pre wash is used to rinse off oil and debris, a bit of dish soap is the perfect degreaser if you use a small amount. If you use too much it’s a mess but a small amount works wonders. And no it’s nots “bad” for your dishwasher if you don’t use it like regular dishwasher detergent. If you use it as a pre wash it is amazing.

It used to be cheap! It’s like 8 dollars a box almost!

⏸️ PAUSE, I STOPPED VIDEO AS SOON AS HE SHOWED DISH DETERGENT.

I cleaned my dishwasher out once using dish soap. I thought I got all residue, ran a load of dishes and had soo much soap and bubbles until the cycle was over.
