Galaxies are concentrations of stars, gas, dust, and dark matter. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are fated to collide, like the Milky Way and Andromeda.

I’m not so sure I’m sold that there are 3 different types of galaxies. Is it possible that all are spiral galaxies …? I’m asking that because it may only be that when we look at a spiral one it is because we’re seeing it as if we’re looking at it from a perpendicular viewpoint. Now turn that entire galaxy until it no longer looks spiral. It may look “irregular”….or spherical.
How are we so sure the Milky Way is spiral….?
From far away and from a different viewpoint, it may look irregular……?

I think there are other galaxies that are merging now a days far away from here. There are infinite number of galaxies in the universe, so it might be possible that in every year two galaxies are merging together.
