Cryo-electron tomography with Ariane Briegel

In this BioTechniques behind the technique, we met Ariane Briegel – Professor of ultrastructural biology at Leiden University (The Netherlands) – at ASM Microbe 2019 to discuss cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET), the information it can provide regarding the structure and function of microbes and how this information can enable learning about the behavior of microbes. She also comments on how cryo-ET is overcoming research barriers faced in microbiology and gives her top tips for working with the technology.
