An underrated part about Jon accepting his fate here is he's died before, he knows there is no afterlife or happily ever after awaiting him. Only darkness, nothing, cold and unfeeling abyss. Still, knowing that, he raises his sword and prepares to die. Masterful.

And then D&D kind of forgot why we were hyped for Jon to fight NK in Season 8.
