Whenever I go into our local Poundland, I wonder why there's barely anything at £1 - bit of a misnomer.

The thing with Poundland is that they aren’t always cheaper. Often their products are in packaging that is smaller than the equivalent in another store such as Tesco. They may price something for 10 percent less but the package is 10% lighter.

When my kids were little (20yrs ago) they loved the pound shop as I used to give them a pound each and told them they could pick whatever they wanted. They loved it. Everything was ONE POUND

The best ever £1 purchase for me was the battery tester for our small batteries. A real gem for one pound and still ok after decades.

Imagine being shipwrecked on a desert island with the contents of a Poundland - it was the best of times, it was the worst of times - a hut made out of umbrellas covered in taupe throws - a different pot noodle every fourth day ... starting every morning with a £1 vitamin boost ... staving off boredom by endlessly making Easter bonnets and diamond mosaics and tending a garden of 1£ "giant sunflowers" ... and developing new theories as to why Hannah "hates" gnomes ...

Here on mainland Europe, "PEPCO" really started opening big branches ( mainly clothing ) in 2020. If you are a parent, at any income level, this is where you go to get the toddlers stuff. At least that's where my friends go. I don't have kids, so I'm in the beer garden on these sunny weekends with the other people who don't have sprogs :)

Please be careful, Hannah. You have recently whacked your face with a door, fallen off a curb and, now, smashed your finger in another door. Poundland looks way better than our American dollar stores. It’s like if we combined all our dollar stores, 5 Below and Daiso. Now that would be convenient shopping!

Egg cups are definitely still a thing ..in the winter ( when the hens are laying ) I always have dippy eggs for breakfast and so does my wee Grandson

Poundstretcher does still exist in some places, and like all these kinds of shop can be really good if you pick and choose what you buy. But whatever happened to everything costing a quid? I thought that was the whole point.
