@iMikeZamora

They are 2mm drafting lead holders. This particular one is a "Koh-I-Noor 5616". You can see more info on the link below the video

Thanks a bunch! Just created my own based on your instructions, and it works great! I'm using the ScotchBrite sponge as one of the other comments suggested. How cool to have a iPad stylus for about $10!

My favorite DIY stylus so far. Nicely done, plus you can draw! :-)

@LeighMcGrath

It's not as good as a tablet pc or cintiq, the iPad has no pressure sensitivity, and the tools are much more simple. However, I love using the ipad and stylus, the limitations are not bad once you get used to it. And yes you can email yourself a jpg or even psd with layers with sketchbook app (used in the vid). With brushes app you can generate high res and speed paintings by emailing yourself the file and converting it on the Mac.

@frostmage6985

thanks! This one shows Sketchbook. My other speed painting videos are using Brushes app. Overall, they are both awesome.... sketchbook has great lines, but Brushes has speed painting ability, and able to output to high res on the mac. I've tried too many painting/drawing apps, and these 2 are the best :)

The stylus tip needs to be this minimum size, any smaller and it will not recognize it as a finger tip, and will not work. However, that doesn't mean the lines in the app needs to be as thick as your stylus tip. In the begining of this video, you can see that the lines that I am drawing, are much smaller than the tip of the stylus. You can choose however thick of a line you want to use inside of the app, a single pixel if you like :)

@iJul1609 That's what I want to know...I'm looking for a solution to take handwritten notes (like for a math course) on a capacitive screen...I have done this with resistive, but there don't seem to be any suitable styluses for these high tech devices...

Does the drafting pencil have a name and model? I was hoping to find something like it at stapels. I really want to do this purely for weight and feel and all other stylus' out there just don't do it for me.

New iPhone should be out soon. My iPhone was actually my main home computer for the past couple of years, until I got the iPad. I love them both, they are both great content receiving devices.... but also can do a bit of content creation. Anyway, you're talking to the wrong person, I'm a fanboy, so I'd say get both, but wait for the new iphone, or get the old one really cheap when the new comes out :)

fyi, goto best buy and ask geek squad if they have any anti static foam you can have.

Thanks dude.

Long as I'm first, I don't actually own an iPad or anything from apple :P But I'm considering the new iPhone, or at least AN apple product to make my life that much easier. Which do you recommend? Wait for the new generation iPhone?

@HELLPINAVENGER
Go to my blog for brush settings under sketbook tab. Not using anything special, just normal brush :)
