The NatureHike Ultralight 60L Backpack has an unfortunate design flaw that makes it impossible for me to use.

Why didnt you just take the aluminum frame place some thick soft foam around the base of the aluminum frame place it back in the pack because the foam would lift it off the place its causing discomfort at the base of your pack. If you're a through hiker I'm sure you've had to make you're own custom type of fixes to your equipment over the years. You should already known that no equipment is perfect and having to fix your equipment yourself to make it work better for you is a part of being a through hiker. Correct?

There is an easy solution for this problem. Thanx for sharing your experience. I saw this video after I received my backpack. At first sight my pack had the mentioned flaw.
However it is possible to move the removable hip belt, which is fastened with velcro, a few centimeters down. In this way the metal frame than rest on the belt and doesn't poke in your back. This worked for me. Although I have not really walked a long distance with it. But I don't expect the pack to behave differently.

A suggestion: Pad the jutting frame from inside using a sit/kneeling pad. If that is unavailable, pad it with some clothes or gloves. I used that successfully with an ancient Karrimor backpack decades ago. 🙏

I modified mine heavily to fit out of the box it’s kind of a horrible rucksack but with some sewing and cutting it’s in my eyes one of if not the best budget ultralight packs on the market

I had the same issue as you I simply added my own padding nothing crazy just cut up some foam mat and sewed it on

I also moved the hip belt to fit myself better and widened the shoulder straps+added extra padding to the straps

I also took the front bottle holder off and moved the chest strap where that would go

I hope tNaturehike take to heart this review - I know some US hiking OEMs will immidiately address a perceived or other design flaws on main line feature products. I hope they do the same.

Just bought this pack, despite the review. I am happy to say that the bottom of the frame inside mine turns 90 degrees back towards the center, so no ends there to dig into you. Looks like they fixed the design already...

Could it be due to incorrect fitting? In the video, your backpack sits really high both on you and your boyfriend. The *hip* belt is supposed to rest on your hips, you both have it around your waist. That causes the pack sit really high. You can also see it on the shoulder straps, which are supposed to wrap around your shoulders, not stick up high. I am not saying it is the cause, just wondering whether the problem would persist if the backpack was fitted correctly.

Unfortunatly its not designed for mix sexe as it is said, its better for male, or relatevly large women, i'm 6ft2 and there no problem, basically the bag is for big people

Thank you for the review! I was shortlisting some backpacks and this also came to mind but i had not seen any one using or reviews anywhere. I had nowhere to test it but now it seems i had to strike it off my wish to buy list. Looking at 50-65 litres and above budget packs. The non adjustable torso length is already a turn off.

Ruth, the 60L backpack was too long for your torso. Did you consider the 40L version designed for a shorter torso? The 60L backpack does have some adjustability in torso length, as the hip belt is attached via Velcro and has about an inch of movement up or down, but a short torso needs a different pack.

I'm not sure why Ralph had a problem with this pack other than it looks like he did not refit the belts and straps to his size because he is wearing the hip belt around his waste rather than around his hips. The load lifters also have to be pulled in to keep the upper pack from sagging back.

Is there any advantage in going for the dyneema version vs the regular nylon? Naturehike lists the dymeema version (1.31 kg) as heavier than the regular nylon (1.16 kg). Thanks.

Just a heads up. The frame comes right out. (and all the other pointless nonsense/extra toggles/ridiculously long straps/etc)
Carefully cut inner layer at the top, where the sewn seam is. I shaved 8oz off of mine and it's much more comfortable now.

Do you remember if the metal frame narrowed at the top inside the bag? I just purchased this bag myself and the frame starts wide at the top, then tapers down to the width of the padding at the base.
I'm wondering if the assembler possibly put the frame in upside down on yours. Either way, it would certainly be a QC fail at the least.🤦🏻

Thank you for the vid.
I bought the same pack in Nov 2020 and have carried about 10kg most days, no problems, comfortable and enjoy using it. The bottom of the frame always seems to be about 2cm away from my body. Maybe your frame was bent? Will see how mine goes of future trips with maybe more weight.
I think it would be possible and fairly easy to remove the frame by cutting the top of the frame area inside the pack. Maybe sewing in some velcro strips to close it again, as another pack I have has this to remove a high density foam pad insert.

Dunno Ruth.... Ive had this backpack out on the trail now a number of times and its been fine.... did 35 miles with it on one backpack trip .... 12 miles on another just the other day.... I find its very comfortable with no rubbing from the frame in fact the frame is about 3/4 " from my body and more from the top of my butt. This was also the experience with "Novice Wild Camper" who also liked the fit and had no issues with it rubbing on his back. Anecdotally my wife had a similar experience with a brand new Kelty backpack i bought for her last year. Shes about 5' 1" and try as we might there was no combination of torso adjustment / load lifter / hip belt/ adjustment that would stop the edges of its frame from rubbing on the top of her butt. I'm 5' 11" and Novice wild camper is 6' 3" and neither of us have experienced a problem with the Naturehike in fact its our 'Go To' pack.... could it be that like the Kelty there's a combination of pack design / Torso length that you just cant adjust out to make it comfortable on your body? I'm sorry if that sounds wrong... I'm just trying to find a reason why your experience and ours was so different with this Backpack.... ATB Dave Mc

I haven't even turned on the video yet and already you can see that this backpack has a serious problem, the straps are sewn in way too high. If someone makes such a serious design mistake, he has no knowledge and did not design the backpack. He does not know about it, he copied it without realizing what he is doing. Such a backpack carries the load badly, has bad balance. In this position load shifters are useless. The solution is to unfasten the straps, measure the length of your back and sew them again in the right place. What is cheap, turns out to be expensive later..

Looking at the video, specially for your boyfriend, the hip belt seens too high... above hip crest height! I guess optimal height would be around hip crest, OR, between it and femur trochanter. At this height, the load will be fully at the hip, touching glutes slightly, not lower back...
