Mac has officially become a VNL 860 with a bulldog hood ornament

VoMack Tech here. Mack basically doesn't exist anymore. The MP engines are D11/13 volvo engines with red paint. The "mDrive" transmissions are Ishifts. And 90 percent of the macks on the road dont have Mack axles. This is just another volvo with mack plastic and paint.

There is no driver shortage! All big trucking companies have 💯 turnover rate. The trucking industry has a major pay problem.

The gold bulldog has nothing to do with the anniversary edition. It’s signifies that the specific truck you’re looking at has a 100% Mack drivetrain factory installed. For example if it was ordered with an Eaton transmission it would carry the Silver Bulldog. I’ve been around these trucks since the mid seventies, so I’ve driven hundreds of them over the years.
I love Mack for many reasons but I’m sorry to say that I would want a much larger higher horsepower, higher torque cleaner burning engine for OTR work. It’s been shown that larger displacement engines not being pushed as hard burn cleaner.
8 bag suspension isn’t new to North America. I’ve seen this suspension on other models as options in the early 80’s. Mack has even used the 8 bag suspension in the 70’s and 80’s. There’s even older Mack’s at the Mack museum with 8 Bag suspension systems.
First and fastest thing to go is that European city horn. It’s an American truck!

Former driver of 10+ years and over 1m miles. 125-130k a year, I essentially stayed out there 350 days a year. One comment about the "driver shortage". The companies caused this. Paying a new driver .25 cents a mile basically means for them to stay out all year to make ends meet and soured them on the profession and they quit. Can't tell you how many young drivers I've seen walk away from a truck somewhere with a backpack and not care about an abandonment strike against them from the company. When they make that decision, they never intend to get back in a truck again so it doesn't matter. They want to see their families and the companies never seem to get them loads to do that. I was single at the time so I didn't really care about that aspect as much as a younger person with a new wife, kids, mortgage, etc. But on the flip side, I burned myself out in the process as well. I surrendered my CDL (let it expire) so I wouldn't be tempted to do it again.
VNL 780 was the best truck for me that I ever drove.

Long story short: No, it's not. Bruce Wilson's Scania proves that this brand new Mack is still 10 years behind

Yes do more semi trucks and towing with efficiency tests.
That would be great!!
That was an awesome video there.
I'm 3 years into my 5 year loan.
This is where I try to find the best truck for my dollar that will suit all of my needs for cross country coast to coast hauling.
Thank you again on a great video.

Guys I think you have a much much larger fanbase in class 8's than you realize. Please keep this up and remember you can partner with dealerships on class 8's just like trucks. Let me know if you're ever in south Florida I will host y'all for a tour at our facility and do a review together and have some fun! Great video.

Touch screens in cars are already a distraction. So now they expect us to try and focus on pressing a button while bouncing around in a truck. Some of these features are nice, but some of this enables more bad habits and crutches for bad drivers.

The company I drive for replaced our entire fleet of 300-day cabs and sleepers with the Mack Anthem. The problems got to be so bad that they couldn't get rid of them quickly enough.

Problems:
Headlight module is $800 to replace.
The headlight assembly is $1900.
Everyone of them losses coolant through the EGR. My truck had 3 EGR's still lost coolant through the EGR.
60 of them had to have all 10 rotors replaced because cracks formed big enough to put your finger in.
75 of them had the driveside door glass just shatter going down the road.
My outside door handle fell off, opening the door.
My left hood covex mirror fell off twice. The plastic mirror came off the mirror frame.
Driving down the road, 225 of them out of nowhere, you would get 9 fault codes. The Mack dealer told them not to bring them back because they had no clue what was causing the errors.

Pros:
Great pulling trucks. I could pull Fancy Gap in VA at 50 to 55, weighing 65k to 70k.
Transmission shifting was great.
When backing to the door, light throttle pressure is easy. 😮

I have 30 years experience and over 4 million safe miles. This is an unbiased review of your video. I drive a Volvo and love it. This is my honest opinion. Im going to add as I watch the video. here we go. Why are u sitting so high. You have to duck down to see traffic lights. Paint is Orange peel city. For marketing purposes Mack over exaggerates HP. Its 500 max. Mirrors are out too far. You keep comparing it with pickup trucks. Why? The DAS system should spray water in your face😅. The antenna in the windshield is 1980s technology. The dash looks incredible. I love the flat clean look it has. I like the parking brakes but feel they are placed too low and everyone is going to be searching for them. Being electronic they will fail. Way too many buttons on the steering wheel and dont even get me started on the steering wheel design. Its not an F1 car. You will break your wrist backing up a trailer. I dont think drivere are going to be staring at the instrument cluster to find out what gear they are in and how many they have to go up or down. The shock placement is correct and works best vertically. Any kind of angle reduces the shocks performance. Its hill assist. WTF is great gripper. Thats dumb. I take back my statement of why are u sitting so high. Being 6'3" u will always look like you're sitting high. I have my seat bottomed out and I feel too high. Why would anyone hide the beautiful aluminum rims with thise silly hub caps. They do absolutely nothing other than make tire pressure checks which should be a daily check impossible. If anything they may give a 100th of a mpg increase. Totally unnoticeable. And they take away the badass truck look. Many are saying its a volvo with a mack emblem and they are completely wrong. Maybe some parts are interchangeable but it shares nothing with a VNL. Overall I think this is a great looking truck. 389 and W9 drivers will be cracking jokes all day as they're getting 4.6 miles a gallon. They are just thickheaded stubborn fools. One thing I believe will decrease sales is this silly Pioneer name. What does this gave to do with explorers of new countries? R800 or similar bringing back the original mack models would of been a better choice. Or even Superliner. Mack needs to get rid of their marketing people.

As a Volvo FH driver i recognize that this truck you're showing is a Volvo, Mack has definitely left the building.

You need to testdrive the Scania R770 that Bruce Wilson has as a loan for shows in the US . The King of The Road its called here in Sweden. You wont believe how smooth and powerful it is. Like a luxery RV.
