Make a Graduated Cutting Board with Contrasting Wood

Build this simple graduated cutting board using two contrasting hardwoods. This is a great scrap wood project to use up some scrap material that you have been saving. There is no jointer required for this wood strip cutting board if you follow the steps that I cover here and use the blade that I use. Choosing the right blade for a cutting board project is an important step. I want a cutting board that is 12 inches wide. What would be the proper width of the first board that I cut? Your cutting board looked wider than 12 inches. I have a Dewalt planer, so need to keep it about 12 inches wide.
