In today’s video we take a closer look at a major plot device in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the tesseract. The tesseract, also known as the cosmic cube, is the holder of the space stone. It is akin to what the orb was for the power stone. Except that it’s not as good of a container when compared to the orb. As everyone can hold the orb no problem but the tesseract is usually better left untouched. But we’ll get into that more in a bit cause this video is about the tesseracts’s timeline. An interesting topic considering the tesseract has appeared in 6 Marvel films to date. Even in Avengers Fury almost burns his hand when he places the tesseract in a case after Loki summoned the portal and came to earth.
In Captain Marvel when Goose spat it out on Fury's desk it didn't melt as it was stable/unused

Fury uses a desk pad, probably of leather. Thats why the Tesseract didnt burned this fingers when he picked it up in The Avengers, he was wearing leather gloves. The Tesseract cant melt cows xD

Also remember the tesseract was also stored in the Viking village, and both hydra and shield had it in metal clamps. It was only one time that it burned through stuff and sent someone away.
