‘You're going to take away food stamps?’: Rep. Khanna slams GOP debt ceiling demands

House Republicans are refusing to raise the debt ceiling, which is basically just paying for bills they and the Trump White House largely racked up, unless Democrats and the Biden White House agree to deep cuts to our future budget. Rep. Ro Khanna joins Joy Reid decrying the GOP’s proposed cuts to critical social programs.

If they were really concerned about the deficit they’d raise taxes/close tax loopholes on people who’s net worth is higher than some states GDP. But it’s just politics are ruining middle and lower class peoples lives to keep the rich happy

McCarthy's comment about raising the credit card limit either is a joke of an attempt at disingenuousness on his part, or it indicates what he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Don't take from the poor living on the edge. Take from the rich and take away all the special exemptions. I volunteered at a senior center with hot meals and wheels on wheels. Seniors brought lunch boxes and ate 1/2 then took 1/2 home. Gelatinous goo on top of pressed and formed mystery meat. Bread day had them arrive early for 2 day old bread. Save them!!!

McCarthy must plan on staying in Washington and never returning to his district. Cuts to SNAP, SSI, Medicare and the people in Oakland will make that place look like Mad Max once the cuts goes into effect.

Offer mcarthy a counter offer. Repeal both the Trump and Bush tax cuts. If he complains, then offer to go back to the tax rates of Eisenhower, a 93% nominal tax rate.

I love living in Ro Khanna's district. The district just to the north is Eric Swalwell and the district just to the south is Zoe Lofgren. So peaceful. No karens. I see comments of liberals who are stuck in the middle of crazy land and I feel so sorry for them. Makes me appreciate even more.
