χαίρετε!!! In this ASMR video, I tried to whisper several simple Greek expressions. A lot of people from Greece have been asking me to do an ASMR video in Greek but as I don't speak this language, that's the best I can do. I hope that my pronunciation wasn't too bad and that you can listen to this video, relax and fall asleep! I might do a full asmr video in Greek if people enjoy this ^^

Thanks a lot for watching. If you would like to full videos in this series, you can check this playlist:

Greek is one of the hardest language to pronounce for me. I don't know why. Still I tried! ^^;

Honestly, your pronounciation is really good. As a Greek with a French boyfriend, you definitely manage to pronounce the 'ch' sound in chairo poli, efcharisto, etc pretty well, which tends to be pretty difficult for non-Greeks and especially for French people from what I've noticed.

Greek looks very challenging, yet you did it anyway! I still find some French words super challenging. Go Pierre Go !!

The letters: "ι, η, υ" (ee), and "ο, ω" (o) have the same pronounciation. When you see: "αι, ει, οι, υι" don't pronounce it like you would in English, they are in order (αι) as e in (e)veryone (same as ε), (ει and οι and υι) as e in m(e) (same as ι, υ, η). υι is rare so you won't see it often. "ου" is pronounced like o in wh(o). There's (αυ and ευ) which are pronounced as either α + f or α + v and ε + f or ε + v. Av and Ev are rare. Example: (αυ) as af in (af)ter and (ευ) as how F is called in the alphabet (ef). (Not really important) The only case this is not correct is when either the tone is on the first letter of the combination (ex. άι) or there's a symbol that looks like this (ex. αϊ, εϊ, εϋ, or αΐ if the tone is also on that letter)

The pronounciation of many letters in greek that look alike in English is not due to Greeks having a different pronounciation, they are different letters. Comparing Greek letters to English ones: Ββ = Vv, Γγ = Yy (y as in yellow only), Δδ = (th as in there only), Ρρ = Rr, Ψψ = (ps as in Epsilon). English to greek: Bb = μπ, Dd = ντ, Gg = γγ or γκ, Hh = χ, Jj = τζ, Ch = τσ.

Something more helpful, other than the specific combinations that make different sounds, imagine you're reading text on the international phonetic alphabet. Also the tone is basically where each word has toning (must have two syllables). Example: What if there was sómething like a sýmbol that would índicate where a word is tóning so I can tell how to pronoúnce caffetéria or hyperbórea or Páblo Picásso?

Wow, you did a marvelous Job! As a Greek myself, I must say that your pronunciation is really good. I'm surprised that you do not have a heavy accent at all, it sounds really good. I can't believe this is your first attempt at speaking Greek, and you are already nailing the accent :)
