A good family friend was an ex-duster pilot, ex-AAC and a retired Lear pilot for a major oil company. He owned a Stearman for 50+ years and I was lucky enough to be his mechanic and friend. So most of my time is in a Stearman. He died in 2012 and his family of course sold the plane. I really miss inverting at 5000 ft. and that incredible feeling of falling away from the seat. It was one of those good times that you never think will end. Stearman rule number one is "You are never through landing in a Stearman until it is locked in the hangar and you are at least 50' away". I started watching Mike building his new plane which is amazing, thanks to the YouTube algorithms. Truly a guy that loves planes and flying. I mean he can't stop smiling in his videos even after all day working. Thanks YouTube and Juan!

Mike Patey is probably one of the most talented guys I've seen on YouTube. I watched the Draco build from the beginning. I teared up seeing Draco crash. Thankfully no one was hurt and I'm glad to see Draco WILL BE BACK!!!

Mike and Juan both produce the best aviation content on Youtube. Both are in first place in my book - Juan for his excellent reporting on the airline industry and crash investigations and Mike for his mad design and fab skills (but his energizer bunny metabolism and drive is giving me an inferiority complex). Wish there was more granularity in the awards to have given them equal honors. Really enjoyed both of their video content in these trying times of self isolation. My thanks and gratitude to both of you.

CONGRATULATIONS, Juan!! A well deserved 2nd place!! Getting anywhere close to Mike Patey in any award ceremony is one hell of a feat! Definitely something to be extremely proud of. Wish I could've gone out there, but I got hit on all sides with work - gotta rake in the dough while I still can. 17 years of paying a mortgage, and it doesn't seem like that number ever changes ... 

Now I've got to go backward and watch all the videos I missed! Hope this event got Jenny hooked on aviation - I think flying would be right up her alley. Have a safe & fun trip back you two! 👍👍 🍻

Am definitely a Mike Patey you tube junkie. His impressive aircraft engineering knowledge, innovative thinking, construction capability and boundless energy (equivalent to the energizer bunny on steroids) just leave my jaw hanging in wonderment. Can't wait to see Scrappy's wings take shape.

Juan thanks so much for putting out news right away, Im sure that like me many others that couldn't make it appreciate the reports. We will all see dozens of great videos in the next weeks and months but in todays world we are unfortunately addicted to instant gratification! You are the best at what you do and we love you for it.

I am so glad that everyone convinced Mike too put content out on youtube. Just his enthusiasm alone is something to enjoy. Not to mention all the knowledge he shares and love of aviation and encouragement he puts out there to get involved.

GLAD to hear The Draco is coming back.
Hands down, my all time favorite airplane.
Was just sick it got bent up. Looking forward to watching Mike build it back up.
