The Centurion D5 smart has a 24 v motor versus the 12 v motor of the competitors. a lower voltage motor will have lower torque. Centurion has a proven track record of innovation, reliability and endurance....Industry leaders....

Great comparison Phillip. The service from ET has also become very poor as well which is important. One only needs to also look at the number of Youtube help videos put out by Centurion compared to ET especially when I have personally brought this to their attention - without any action by them 😞

Great video! Finally a comparison of SA gatemotors. PLEASE also go test the D10 Turbo on the same rig. I want to know if it does perform much faster for closing residential gates. I also want to see if it keeps up with the heavier loads, so to encourage clients to fork out the extra cash for the upgrade if they have extra heavy gates that are not palisade gates.

I’m happy to see a comparison was done with these gate motors however I would like a rematch between centurion and ET.

It is only fair to compare the D5 Evo with ET 500, and the D5 Smart with the ET Drive 600.

Centurion D5 smart uses 2 x 7, 2 amp batteries connected in parallel, which supply 14, 4 amps to the motor to use as initial pull force.

ET Nice drive 600 uses a power pack which allows the motor to draw its power directly from AC. While the single 12 V battery is only used when there’s no AC. This would be a great comparison and fair one I believe.

Very important is the brand and quality of batteries used. I have one D5 and one D10 and speed is important but also the capacity of the brake ( time to stop ) in a case of IR beam interrupt.

Not a fair comparison the other motors are all 12v where the d5 smart is 24v do it again with a d5 evo motor so everything is the same at 12v

This is a one-dimensional comparison based on a favorable setup. It makes me question the validity of the conclusions you have made. There are other important factors that you haven't considered such as affordability, performance in the field (under varying conditions), and the maintenance and cost of running the gate motor over time. For instance, if you need to replace the batteries in the Centurion D5 Smart, you would incur double the cost when compared to any of the competitors because you need 2 x12V 7Ah batteries because the Centurion D5 is a 24V motor. The 12V motors can deliver a similar performance profile compared to the 24V motors as you have demonstrated. Both the ET and The Sentry A6 Max have power supply units that can run the motor INDEPENDENTLY from the batteries. I personally have had a Gemini installed at my house for over 6 years now and never had a day's problem. How did you gain access to Centurion's test apparatus? are they allowing any hobbyist in with his multimeter? seems bias that the motors are being tested on centurion's test jig. Why not test the motors in real world applications and let the customers decide?

The one thing i absolutely hate about centurion is all the plastic gears they use where as e.t and dts uses steal gears
