Kerbal Space Program Part 14 ► Landing on Mun! (KSP Career Mode) ◀ Gameplay / Tutorial. An easy to follow guide to getting started in KSP

PC Spec
CPU: Intel i5-2320 @3 GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: MSI GEFORCE GTX 670 Power Edition Twin Frozr

Game Description
------------------------
KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM IS A MULTI-GENRE GAME WHERE THE PLAYERS CREATE THEIR OWN SPACE PROGRAM.
In KSP, you must build a space-worthy craft, capable of flying its crew out into space, without killing them. At your disposal is a collection of parts, which must be assembled to create a functional ship. Each part has its own function and will affect the way a ship flies (or doesn't). So strap yourself in, and get ready to try some Rocket Science!

The game has different game modes, you can play the Career Mode if you want to expand and manage your own Space Center, taking on missions and researching new technologies. Or you can play Sandbox mode if you're only interested in flying and discovering the Kerbal universe without restrictions. There is even a mid point between these two, Science mode.

End Titles Music:

I clenched a bit at the end, there! Thanks, Skye!

I gasped when you bounced off the atmosphere. I thought, for sure, you would ricochet off into space. It was almost like I was the one in the pod haha; that's how you know you are doing a good job, when you get nervous. Keep up the great videos!

Loving the videos Skye, some quick tips though! While in map view you can click on your PE or AP once and the game will leave the altitude up even after you move your mouse off, when you set your sas to point at a direction and it swings past you can quick time warp to 5x then drop back to 1x and the game will put the ship on rails and lock it in a direction so you save time waiting for the sas to get it right.  Good luck and have fun man!

Gratz on mission complete Skye, I feel sad for those hundreds that will not find this video for some reason. Often I set annotations off.

You actually had a lot of luck to land on this spot, with this "bottle" fall-o-matic lander =) And a lot of finger precision too, I applaud you ! =)

Also, you don't actually need to go into orbit from any starting planets, which have no atmosphere. One can accelerate all way up so long the nose is pointing to about the target and plan along the apoapsis. This saves fuel. .... and when you target any atmosphere planet, you don't need to go to orbit either. Just touch upper layers of atmosphere if you have heat-shield. This will cause the vessel to go into air-braking orbit. I did this in KSP several times, takes somewhere between 4 to 6 loops... and this is what you did in this video. Its pretty good thing, because your speed equals diameter of your orbit. If one has large orbit and tries to touch the Kerbin atmosphere, the velocity will still be too high, so there is where air-braking loops come in handy.

WOW.. Making it look easy :) even after a double re-entry!.. I find it hard getting a good orbit around kerbin (which is probably the easiest thing to do), never mind landing on the moon and getting back home lol but hey, your learning me slowly. Thanks for the video's man, pls keep them coming :)

Skye, I've noticed your tendency to separate sections while prograde. This is fine on assent but can be disastrous on or near decent. If you separate the rocket and burn retrograde that section can come back and smash into you as you are slowing down. Eject towards or away from the body you are orbiting so it's out of the path of your orbit.
As with most of my advice to you, it comes at the price of many Kerbal lives.

The rocket was tipping over because the legs didn't reach down below the engine!

You really should have jettisoned that stage at the beginning while pointing retrograde. If' you're gonna slow down it could smack right back into you the way you did it.

The best way to get out of mun orbit is to imagine you're the mun. You would want to burn retrograde to the way the mun is going, so that means you should burn prograde on your mun orbit to extend it in the mun's retrograde direction.

Really thought that once you neglected to use that fuel up it would bound you out to your satellite, and we'd witness your first castastrophic failure.  Good vid, keep it up.
