I just heard about the sand shortage a few days ago. The cost of building and repairing homes is going to skyrocket. It seems like good honest people can't catch a break.

I’ve noticed a shift and wanted to get tour take on it. Back in the 50’s-80’s, you would see builders building 400sqft - 900sqft homes and those homes would be sold to first time and low income buyers. Today, you see an avg sqft of 1, 200sqft - 1, 500sqft. It seems “Bigger is Better” mentality may be contributing to this bubble.

I had beers recently with a couple of loggers and asked them about the lumber supply shortage. They laughed and said logs have been flowing to and through the mills same rate throughout the crisis and that any shortage is 'engineered' to drive up price. I don't know if other parts of the country have the same experience, and of course I don't have production numbers, but that's the casual word from some peoples close to the source.
