LIFE OF THE PARTY (Randy Travis)

Song Randy Travis sang during an episode of Matlock back in 1992
I met RT one night back stage after a show that I was playing with him and asked him about this song. He told me that a friend of his (name I can't remember) wrote this song for him specifically for this episode. People claim Allen Shamblin & Billy Kirsch wrote this song but I spoke with Allen Shamblin by email and he advised that he did not write this song and further advised that he wrote the song "THE LIFE OF THE PARTY" for Neal McCoy which was a totally different song. Therefore, as of right now, the true songwriter of Randy Travis's LIFE OF THE PARTY is still currently unknown but RT made it clear that he did not write it.
That night, Randy Travis turned and told his road manager he said "Remind me when we get back to Nashville to go cut that song in the studio because it's a good one and I had forgotten about it." He then turned to me saying "I'm so glad you reminded me of that song, I've always wanted to record that song but never got around to it. Later that night they left for Nashville but unfortunately it never happened to my knowledge. About a year or so later Randy had his stroke.
This is my favorite song by him acoustically.
In this video, I have enhanced the sound with sound software and sort of remastered it. Btw, RT was a GREAT super friendly guy that night, Such a cool experience.

I have this Matlock episode on dvd and absolutely fell in love with the song. I have searched for it on a record but have had no luck finding it. It truly is sadd that such an incredible voice is still not performing. I was lucky enough to grow up when he was topping the charts! A wonderful talent.

Was doing my a.m. workout and watching "Matlock" at the same time.😏
Froze when I heard this song ... then flopped onto the couch and broke down crying. Wow! (And I knew Matlock was gonna come back to the front of the porch when he heard it.🙂)

Miss people who wrote and sang original and different things from what we hear today. Trends are the death of music. We need more of this, and Waylon, Merle, George, . Singers that you had no idea what they were coming out with next...

Thank you Kuntrysanger for posting this song and providing details about its origins and your discussion with Randy Travis. It would be phenomenal if Randy Travis recovers enough to finally record this masterpiece. ❤ And, it would be stupendous to finally find out the songwriter's name, too!
