Thanks for reviewing Frigid as England in this interesting analytical way. I wrote this song back in the eighties and it was given to Chris Neil (producer of Compus Mentus the album it's taken from) by my manager at the time. Then Chris passed it on to Cutting Crew. I didn't know any of this at the time, I didn't know they'd recorded it until I got a phone call one day at my flat in London. I was invited to go to their manager's office and listen. I liked their version as it was very similar to the one we'd recorded in our own band at the time. I got to know NIck the singer/writer with Cutting Crew as a result. We did a new version of the song with Nick singing the lead vocal on the album "The ink Snail's Tattooed Trail", by the Groove Enlightened Minstrels, which is the name of my own band. I always wanted to write a song that produced "the shiver". Oscar Wilde on the subject of art said "it's only the shiver that counts", of course one can't consciously write a song that gives you a shiver, it just happens. I wrote it about a relationship I was in at the time. Your take on the lyrics is very interesting, so thank you for giving it the thumbs up. I think it's a classic, it just needs to be played on national radio, needs to be on a national play list. x

You chose a great track to review, I love the whole album. Cutting Crew are still going with the same singer/songwriter but otherwise new members. They just released a new album this year which you should check out
