The Hermione is a 47-metre-high, 65-metre-long replica of the frigate that left French waters in 1780, taking the young Marquis de Lafayette to America where he would help George Washington defeat the British in the War of Independence. After one year sailing across the Atlantic, the Hermione has been touring parts of the Mediterranean. Her crew is made up of volunteers from 34 different countries, who have learned the values of discipline and working as a team. Our reporters went on board.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Wassim Cornet.

The French produced a Masterpiece there... Respect ✊ from the U.K. 🇬🇧 (So much so our ancestors thought so too and went so far as to draw up the ships plans... By the French losing a ship in the past to the British we have gained in the present, thanks to the sincere admiration of an opponent respecting their oppositions master craftsmanship... How the Universe unfolds is a wonder to behold.
