Great deal on those trucks for sure. I would love to have gotten a deal like that Jeff, those would work great for hauling fill around the farm here. Load her well and give her hell.

I live across the river from the old Fairless Steel mill in Pa. and i can remember hearing those 12v71 trucks up on the slag pile every night in the summers. It was like music to put you to sleep by.

Ain't nothing like the sound of a V12 Detroit.Music to the ears.

These things must be ancient. Wabco started this Kress design with this model in the 50's to compete with the near total dominance by Euclid at the time. That basic design survives today in almost everyone's ultra large haul trucks.

Great video.

"I pick up rocks and I put them down"... Those were some great videos! OK, maybe you can run away from the Detroit with the Cummins, but the Detroit is still cooler... well, until you run one all day. That cat book is REALLY cool! Just ordered a calendar! Thanks for the videos!

There is a historic train you can ride in Summerland BC. (Just 9 miles south of Peachland ) It is part of the historic Kettle Valley Railway. Most of the rest of the old route is preserved for hiking and cycling. Pretty spectacular.
Linda "neglected" to tell me that my phone rang when you gave me the heads up about the new video. Bah!

Just started watching your channel and I am really pleased that you are showing the way old school repairs are done, so many nowadays just order parts on line and buy stuff from god knows where with no guarantee, I am an old retired dock worker who has operated all sorts from old Clarkes straddle carriers to the modern day Terex machines and container cranes . I also have had experience of Alpha marine and one you may not of heard of Kelvin T8 marine. enjoying your channel..

Up here in Northern Ontario, we don't see many scrapers. I've only seen one scraper on a golf course job in this area. On the other hand we have a lot of rock and those Wabcos were pretty popular with many contractors. Not unusual to see those trucks or Terex's and Cat's on rock jobs today. Lots of articulated dumps too but the old straight dumps still seem to hold their own. I really enjoyed this video. Keep the scraper content coming too, I have learned so much about them from you. Thanks

I still think some Big Tonka Decals should be made for the Dump trucks! Thanks for the history and have a great weekend!

Thanks for the history lesson Jeff. Wish they had been like that at school, would have paid more attention then.

Them Wabco trucks were built in Paris Ontario Canada, Dresser bought them out, built the biggest haul pack trucks in the world in Cambridge Ontario Canada, Komatsu partner with Dresser making Komdressco and soon shut the plant down, Tigercat owns the plant now making Forest machinery! Thanks for sharing

Jeff it's great hearing some of the history of those old trucks. I have a college buddy that works the iron ore mines and sometimes runs a 240 ton dump truck like those. Great video and can't wait for the next one!

Had fleet of 170 Wabcos where I worked early 80's. Diesle Electric with 149 16V"s. Company leased a 170 with the Cummins. The Cummins walked the dog on the Detroits up the ramps. Little different animals than yours but same scenario.

That cummins May have more power, but that 1271 just sounds so much cooler. When we first moved into my house I had a garbage truck that had a 671 in it, and it never ran exactly right so it had a very unique sound to it. But the thing that struck me as really weird was it never had a back up alarm. And one day the garbage man saw me walking out with my little short cane, and he just sat there and stared at me for two minutes. Then about a month later he traded that one in for an even more under powered new one. Practically had to stand on the gas pedal to make it go. But at least this one had a back up alarm. When he stared at me I guess I was maybe about five or six years old.
