I just got a tattoo for "this is me trying, " which is surprisingly my first T Swift-related tattoo after her music being the soundtrack for half my life, and now I feel like I'm being rewarded for it. I also agree about "august" being the "getaway car" of the album! And, for book recs, I agree with The Little Princess, but I also just read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (which reminded me of the vibes of The Starless Sea), and that clicks for me.

One experience I will really take from quarantine is sitting at my desk every day and (especially after the time change this fall) really noticing how much the light changes every day through these south facing windows. I don't turn on any electric lights until about 4pm, and in the morning especially I've noticed that for a while the sun was up before me, then for a couple weeks I would get blinded during my 9:30 meetings and have to pull the shades, and now I'm on the other side of that where somehow the angle is different and the sun doesn't shine in my eyes in the same way. Hearing you talk about nature as a process reminded me of this as I spend more time in one place than I ever have before.

Also, I had never really thought about which song impacted me the most emotionally off folklore, but it’s seven, hands-down. I relate to that feeling of knowing someone for a short time, but after they leave your life, you keep them in your heart forever because they left such an impact.

August is too my favourite. I believe Taylor said August is a person but I still think it is also personifying the month as it sounds like a long, warm late summer's eveningreminiscing on brighter days.
