Since I happened upon one of your videos a couple of months ago in desperation and agony I've been practising somatic tracking and been getting on with life as best as possible instead of hiding at home and my chronic pain has reduced by about 50% so far. Thank you so much for putting these videos out there for people like me.

I loved the frustration tracking - very helpful! I'll come back to this. Someone said frustration adds to the danger signal and makes things worse - but hearing that just made me repress it, which also isn't helpful. This is a much better way to cope and process the emotion, much appreciated!

When you say feel how your body needs to move with the frustration..do you mean an active movement or a changing of position? I don't know what to observe to know how I need to move.

Would it be possible to make a video on the concept of being identified with pain or chronic illness? It’s something I’ve heard a lot, particularly in the self help and ME/CFS community.

I know you’ve talked before about whether we need to change our lives and some of that related to personality traits eg becoming less of a perfectionist, but do we need to change our identity? Is being in pain, fatigued, dizzy and other symptoms become so much part of our identity that we need to change our entire identity?

Something in a similar vein, which I saw again today from a mind body coach is suggesting that people are invested in the story of their pain, or the trauma/injury that caused the pain.

The concept of story/identity also comes up in the works of Dr Joe Dispenza, saying that your illness is in your old identity and you need to become a new person and leave sickness behind in your old identity.

I’m prepared to make changes to how I process emotions and relate to the world, but I’m scared of the idea of becoming an entirely new person, and yet I realise the person I am right now, with 45+ years of constant pain, is not serving me. Having had symptoms for that length of time, probably has become part of my story/identity. What are your thoughts about this concept and is this something you could cover in a video.

Do we need to change our personality or identity to heal? Thanks so much ❤
