That Netflix sticker on the book is keeping me from buying this series

I finished reading all the books a month ago, sticking with a publication order. So, I totally agree with your opinion. Greetings from Warsaw, Poland.

I am currently reading it in publication order as well. I just finished Sword of Destiny and I look forward to starting blood of elves. I found reading the short stories beneficial and necessary as it adds world building elements such as characters and lore. And I have no regrets at all ♥

Little spoiler from Polish :) : Andrzej Sapkowski wrote an anthology of funny stories named in Polish " Something ends, something begins". Only one of them is about the Witcher. It is about Geralt and Yennefer's WEDDING. I'm not sure if this has yet been translated into English. It was great fun to read what happened before, during and after the ceremony. Enjoy if you have the book in your hands. And, Merry Christmas. From Poland 🇵🇱 .

You’re so right. Listening to the audio books, I tried starting with blood of elves and after a while I just dropped it. Fast forward a year or so, and I’ve just finished the last wish. I cannot wait for the other short stories, and I feel like it will set me up perfectly to go back to BOE

I’m about to re-read it. I’m very dissatisfied with the direction of Season 2 that I want to read the books again and admire the pacing/storytelling of the Witcher

I am one of those people who are actually not happy with numbers on the spine being used only for the main story. but it is what it is and I cant change it.
My friend did not read short stories and his experience was close to nonexisting in the matter of twists, deeper character relationships... ya know.

Publication order all the way.

Mine is... Hmm
The last wish
Season of storm
Sword of destiny
Blood of elves
The time of contempt
Baptism of fire
The tower of swallow
And the lady of the lake....

This is the right reading for those who are like me who wants the story going straight until the end...🤔

The short stories are essential to The Witcher. The rest of the books would be missing a lot of context without them. I read the books in the order in which they were published, and I think that works best, even though most of the final book takes place when Geralt was younger. It's important to read it last because it does tie up some loose ends, and it's a nice "farewell" to the series in a way.

I bought The Last Wish because of a previous video of yours! I can't wait to get started (I'm trudging through the way too long "Anna Karenina" lol). Also, did you hear that Season 2 of The Witcher has wrapped up filming? I'm so excited!

I had no clue when to read Season of Storms and nobody seemed to agree on it when I looked it up. I think I actually ended up reading it after Blood of Elves, purely because that's when I came across someone who said that, timeline-wise, Season of Storms is supposed to happen before Sword of Destiny (but I had already read both short stories books as well as Blood of Elves). If I had to recommend someone else a good order to read the books in, it would definitely be: The Last Wish, Season of Storms, Sword of Destiny and then the rest.

Thank you for the video! I actually didn’t know the last wish was a short stories book, just assumed it’s written in such way you jump backwards and forwards in time on purpose. It kind of made sense to me more, as I understood why they made season 1 in such a confusing timeline.
Now I know I’ll just keep following the publication timeline.
However, I didn’t get why series creators add events of future books. I feel like series timeline could spoil book reading now as they are out of control with their timeline, more over not giving us any indication where we are at.
