Someone on twitter pointed out the "bad" mythics are usually the ones with "upgrades" that add more bits and features as you level it up (Tracer, Widow), while the good mythics just give you actual variants that you can mix and match.

I really wish mythics were not season themed, the widow skin could be a legendary and i wouldn't care, but the mythics should be a definitive look for that character imo, they already said the battlepass has off theme skins cause not everybody will like the season theme, so why make the mythics themed since that's like a one time thing? it makes no sense

The term gilded is often used an an expression to describe something that appears valuable but isn’t. (Think gilded age). That’s about how I feel about the gilded mythic skins. They appear to be made of gold, but they are only painted with gold.

tbf i'm pretty sure gilded aspects were also made with the future in mind; there's a new mythic skin every season, but not a new hero, meaning that even if you get every mythic skin, you'll eventually have more prisms than you can spend. i'm pretty sure things like this are meant to be for then as well, not just for the sake of buying everything now.

It suck because they could have made the guilded variants be earnable for people who already own the mythic, maybe tie it to your character level. But bliz makes mr krabs look like a full blown comunist

Something I don’t see anyone talk about is, what’s the point of them to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, the gold and black versions look aesthetically good, but gold was a 2018-2020 thing. We are now supposed to be focused on jaded weapons with jaded skins. Aside from the ridiculous prices I don’t understand why the devs are choosing to now focus on the black and gold aesthetic when now we are at the point to where jade is the new shiny version people should strive too. Personally, I don’t like jade and think it was a horrible idea to make the next master camo an ugly green. They also promised us new yearly camo skins when they announced jaded weapons in a very short time we will be onto the next mastery camo while we are also still getting golden skins 😂. Don’t get me wrong, I want the devs to copy more of Paladins features. However, paladins golden weapons and skins look amazing and OW’s version just looks like a crappy rip off with a pay wall behind it. The golden skins should be free and they should be tied to character level just like how paladins does it, locking them behind a pay wall is soooo cringy. I’m not the biggest OW2 fan btw. I never played OW 1 and only got into the game 5 ish seasons ago. As a new ish player I’m not impressed and genuinely don’t like how atrocious Blizzards micro transactions are. I don’t have blind nostalgia for the game like other ppl do and think I can see the forest for the trees 🌲 in a case like this.

Mercy's is stellar too, but I just wish they did those actual variants again... with Reaper and Widow it just feels like the final unlock is the only one they actually want you to use. I guess the inverse is Ana where everything besides the default variant looks really bad

This is why I’ve vowed to myself to never by anything mythic related with irl money and only use the prisms I get from the pass. Tbh as long as you don’t buy everything single mythic and only focus on the ones for hero’s you play it’s kinda easy to get it + the gilded.

I mean the reaper mythic looks awesome and I think they have been getting better so it's not so bad(The skins)

The only Gilded one I would think about getting is Moira’s honestly. It’s the only one that actually just suits the original skin well
