You guys should sell a cheap cap to do this. I have the dilemma of buying a new cap and drilling holes in since the one I’m using is new also.

you'll have to sacrifice and cut or drill a
distributor cap in order to actually see
what's happening on a running engine.
that's the best way.

Amused. I’ve broken MANY chinesium starters. Thank you for this, maybe now I’ll be able to save more money for fuel.

Can't you just use a see through cap for this or just get another sacrificial cap to drill holes in?

Under the cap theres only supposed to be 1 spark stream...In this vid I saw 4 different spark streams...I sure it was spark kickback from the way he had all the wires w/sparkplugs hung up together and also am surprised the dude didnt get shocked....LOL

What's with the arcing to the other plug wire terminals WHILE looking at the main cylinder you demonstrated?

Sbc with crank trigger. if I want locked 36 but I'm running boost and I'm pulling a total of 25 degrees under boost. Do I set it on the tail end or front end of the rotor tip?

Hi Joe, can I assume your triggering your timing light from the coil lead, not each spark plug lead, since I can see sparks happening to other terminals within the cap. Thank you Gary

We need clear see through dist. Caps.why are they not available!!

I can't believe how many people think that by adjusting your timing you are adjusting where the spark happens on the rotor. Without an adjustable rotor, an adjustable cap, or an adjustable breaker plate/electronic equivalent THERE IS NO ADJUSTING THE PHASING. I just want to make it clear that rotor phasing on a normal distributor is a term that describes the phasing change via the vacuum advance (NOT AN ADJUSTMENT) because the vacuum advance moves the breaker plate.

Quick question... How are you supposed to know how far off the rotor is from the terminal to know how much to adjust the phasing? Your cap had holes cut in it so we could see what u were talking about but without the holes how would you do it? Thanks

how exactly are you moving the rotor while the machine is running?

I use in my car ignition, cables, and coil from msd.
But rotor is oem because i don't found one from msd or more strong.
Sometimes my rotor is melted.
My car is Opel Kadett.
In Brazil GM Chevette.
Do you know one?
Cheers

will my crap cap and msd rotor fit my 85 camaro stock distributor?

MSD needs to make a cap with a plug for this. The only reason you may need to do this is if you have a scenario where you pull allot of timing...16 degree lets say. Dont waste your money unless you're doing this or your ECU is. Nitrous, superchargers would be examples where this is done using a timing retard device. I am sure there are others.

What rotor and cap would I use for the msd crab set-up.
