Marquee Moon is so sophisticated... it's so jazz-like.

A cornerstone record for how I approach the instrument. There was definitely a before and after moment from the first listen. There was no going back. There's so much genius in how the parts weave and interlock.
I was fortunate enough to open for Richard Lloyd, and follow up by taking a lesson from him a few months later.

Unparalleled guitar band. Tom Verlaine. Beatles level in his delivery of simplicity disguised as complexity, so unbelievably sophisticated. I never know if my mind is playing tricks on me, when I listen to how simple a lot of their arrangements are it makes me wonder if it’s just them getting out of the way of a really simple line, like a path of least resistance, or if it’s something more sober and conscious, and they really are that much better than everyone else. Either way, they can’t be touched.
