I love a tank wearing a Hawaiian hula skirt 🌺

The draft excluder at the back helps reduce thermal signature too. Very smart 👌🏼

So how many SID Chieftain prototypes were left in the wild with their now feral crews?
It's a bugger when you can't find your test subjects.

Leopard 1A3 "Versuchsträger Gesammtschutz" (test vehicle enhanced protection) was a few years earlier (early to mid 80's) and already incorporated stealth coatings, IR Signature reduction, Radar Signature Reduction and Noise Signature Reduction on a similar scale. Today a recreated prototype is on display in the Panzer museum Munster, as the original prototype got dismantled

When i was in Armoured Period training, i try to watch inside of this Tank. The driver hole was very tight and weird. But turret wasn't so bad. The main problem of Chieftain Tanks in Army was extra heat in engines. So some times, coused its engine got fire.

I remember getting one of your books on tank identification when I was like 13 and reading every detail of it multiple times. 5 years later, I’m now an adult, avid tank enthusiast/nerd and diagnosed with autism 😅😂

Calling it the first stealth tank might be a bit of a stretch. The leopard 1 VTGS was designed in the early eightys, though i couldn't find anything on when it was built.

It got so stealthy the driver can't find where he parked

The german VTGS was earlier in the middle of the 80s

Tbh the fact the driver cant hear the engine running from the driver seat (ik probly when idling) is a major thing, lota ppl dont realize how loud tanks are generally and can usually be heard long before seen unless their just powered off
