Hayden Christensen explains why he thinks Anakin Skywalker's Force ghost is so young!
In the original release of Return of the Jedi Anakin's force ghost is played by Sabastian Shaw and is a lot older!
But in 2004 George Lucas changed it to a young Anakin from Revenge of The Sith!
Why do you think Anakin is young as a Force ghost?

Personally, I think that its because when he became darth vader, he ceased to be anakin skywalker. As far as the force was concerned, anakin skywalker died on coruscant at the end of the clone wars.

The force ghost is kinda a "light side ability, " so whatever time the force remembered him as a Jedi, that would be his appearance last time he was a jedi in lore

I think they appear the same way when they were closest to the Force. Anakin was closest to the Force when he was on Mortis, where he proved he was the Chosen One and tapped into both sides of the Force. However, Anakin was only 45 when he died in Return of the Jedi, and Hayden is 43.

In death, we remember people the last time we saw them, so that was how we saw him in RotS. Luke might have seen him as the old man. From our point of view as movie fans, the original way was Luke's view of him. In the Ahsoka series, episode 5, Anakin appears as Ahsoka last remembers him, but since Ahsoka hasn't died yet, Anakin saying "Your old" is correct from his point of view.

The dude is the chosen one by the force itself. He just became what he was always ment to be. The clone wars amd the ashoka show basically tell you that anakin is the new father of the force. He IS the balance

The reason is that they appear when they last thought of themselves to be a Jedi. Anakin thinks himself to have been last a Jedi in Revenge of The Sith, while Obi Wan and Yoda died as Jedi at old age.

Sith become one with the force a different way than jedi. Vader redeeming Anakin and fulfilling the prophecy of restoring balance to the force by betraying palpatine was probably worth some cool points and the force was like why not. Lifes been hard on him.

Yoda and Obi Wan died on the light side. I know Anakin technically turned back right before death, but him, young, as Anakin, was the other most recent time he was an active Jedi Knight. I assume Luke’s force ghosts would only be from the light side.

Vader redeemed himself by saving luke allowing him back to the light side and his force ghost reverted to the last time he was Anakin
