Makulu has come a long way in a short time - I'm impressed! I have an HP Elite 8200 that has Mint, and I'm gonna give this a test-drive in VirtualBox! Thank You for all you do!

A useful to me review subject is how much it takes to update from major revision to the next. Putting a lot of customisation and applications etc into a distro or spin is an investment in time....and after a year or two, realise that only way to get up date is to start from scratch....Fedora style semi rolling, and the UltraMarine migrate function seem like great balance between latest bleeding edge and stability. Just recently put RisiOS in a virtual machine....other than the default wallpaper ...very polished and just works....thankyou for the suggestions and reviews Troy

This is so underrated. It really is a very good and stable distribution. Especially ( imo ) for people who come from other OSes. They don't really know which Desktop Environment they want, or are totally unfamiliar with DE''s. In this distro, they can check a lot of them out, see what they like, and change it to that. They also have other version ( without the Shift ). Well done guys and girls. Thank you so much for making this distro.

Makulu always puts out a nice looking distro. As far as the ram usage, if you want bling you need some ram. Nice review!

Nice effort makulu. Maybe a kde plasma edition will be good, because it's faster and by default more beautiful.

Very beautifully and well-done distro but the only deal-breaker for me is Ubuntu based...

Although the intro isn't that nice as how you touted it up (eugh, look at that stock footage and stock music galore), the desktop itself does what it promised; easy customisibility for the noobs.

The only other complaint is the Ubuntu base for me. Sure, I know it's not a good idea to base a user-friendly distro on top of Arch (e.g. Manjaro and its constant Pamac breakages), but Debian, in this case, is the better choice. You would still be on a stable base, but without Canonical pushing Snaps down your throats.

I used this a while ago and I just feel its become too bloated. It does look nice but for me speed of my desktop is what I prefer so that's why I'm a Mabox Linux user.

hey E buzz I have tryed to down load makulu shift I cannot get it on a stick or on hard drive. what am I doing plase help I would like to try it

Had one guy tell me this was only GNOME with some varied desktops on it---and I asked the developer- and he said NOt that it wasnt'. I downloaded it- and it sure looks to me like GNOME with the extra layouts on it... and I don't want gnome. I was considering it- and adding the MATERIAL SHELL (with tiling like POP os) to it-- and that would make it perfect.. :)

I never really like an OS based on Ubuntu just because it is based on Debian and then Ubuntu so you have two area's that could go wrong and not sure which one it is. Glad to have more options though.

1 GIG out of 16 for ram-- BIG FRIGGIN WHOOP-- these complainers need to get over it!!! You're right- WINDOWS takes WAY more than that wiht NOHTING open or running!!!
