EVH is like Hendrix, you might not have liked his music but every guitar player respected the hell out of him

In interview a guy asked Eddie
"With all the deceased guitarists, whom would u like to play the most with?
Eddie replied " I'd like to jam with my father again"

He used to say, “Smile so when you make a mistake, people think you meant it.” No one ever smiled as much as Eddie Van Halen.

EDDIE IS ALIVE! Because of his musical legacy.
He lives on through his music, and through other people he inspired!

You're absolutely right. Next to/Along with Hendrix, he was absolutely the most important guitarist to rock & metal. Half of the metal albums of the past 30 years are recorded with 5150s... maybe even more... the "Brown Sound" ... his technique ... his writing. While I wasn't a huge fan of (the band) Van Halen, I was a big fan of Eddie. Eddie was a Titan. A motherfucking Titan.

This just killed me inside when I found this out, then this morning I wake up to screaming and crying, my dad passed away in his sleep at 45, I’m 14. He was everything to me, he’s the one who taught me rock n roll and all the great blues, metal, alternative and any other 70s-90s. Love you dad

Eddie wasn’t my favourite guitarist, to be honest I hardly ever listen to Van Halen. But I totally acknowledge he was a guitar god and legend, he had a insane legacy and made a huge impact on Rock ‘n’ roll, alongside his brother and other band mates of course. Rock in peace, Eddie.

Eddie Van Halen can't die.

He just has some shows in heaven.

Rest in power, Van Halen.

This is genuinely heartbreaking news.
Eddie van Halen was the whole reason I picked up a guitar 5-6 years ago like most people, as u said.
It’s just terrible to think he’s gone now and that’s something I hate to think about
R.I.P Eddie
Loved by millions and will NEVER be forgotten❤️😢

I wasn’t alive to have to live through SRV’s death, him being my EVH, this is crazy that i’m alive to go through something like this. Never will he ever be forgotten, R.I.P Eddie🙁

I think my favorite Van Halen track is "Mean Street" but "Spanish Fly" is one of my favorite guitar parts by Eddie

A true guitar god. Revolutionized soloing with his tapping technique.

I was driving home from band practice today and started blasting eruption and I was at a stop light and a guy pulled up next to me also playing eruption but in exact unison with mine and when the tapping part came on it gave me chills because the chances of that happening are slim to none, and I feel like Eddie helped that happen😔 rest in piece to the legend

Dude, this one hit hard. I realize that as I age more and more of the people responsible for pieces of my childhood are gonna pass, but for whatever reason this one stung...

5150. That entire album. Was it his best work? Nah. But it was THE first cassette I ever owned. More than wore it out.

The man was THE reason so many of us picked up the instrument...

I still can't believe it. Eddie was a huge inspiration for me as a guitarist. Seeing his death makes me sad.

Van Halen has always been my favorite band, for me, it was VH, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd for top 3.
And greatest guitarists, for me, EVH, Hendrix, Clapton, SRV.. in that order. As a Christian now..I’ m thankful to God we were blessed, personally, to have such a gifted musician that will forever be associated with the best memories of our (my)youth and who gave us the best rock music in my opinion, of the best era and genre of music ever. Every album from VH 1 to Balance . The purest essence of pure Rock and Rock guitar.
This sucks..
Thank you Eddie .
May you R.I.P Eddie.
