Thank you so much for explaining this to me I've had a recurring problem for the past 7 years of a horrible cough waking up every night because I cannot breathe I talked to my doctors I medication but nothing has taken care of the problem they keep coming back So What I don't understand is why my doctor hasn't sent me to a sinus clinic or specialist in all this time. That's why I'm so grateful for your information now I know what to do

Thank you for the simple explanation of the terms. I saw another video before you and it was as if thr doctor was talking to a med class regarding this. I can appreciate the education but not all of us studied every bone in our face. Thanks for this video and your knowledge on the subject!

I have one of these that's gotten bigger. I've been sick for almost 3 months with all kinds of shoulder, neck, occipital, temple and top of head pain. Can't stop coughing from the nasal drainage, constant phlegm. Went to an ENT doctor at Johns Hopkins. He was terrible. Didn't physically examine me, ordered an MRI and didn't look at that, spent an entire 3 minutes with me and couldn't wait to run out the door, mumbled something about taking steroids and maybe having him do surgery! I don't think so. Can't see a different doctor at Hopkins because they said I'm stuck with this clown since I saw him already!!! I expected him to explain things the way you did in this video but he didn't. I'm now searching the internet for medical interpretation of what I have that he should have given me. I'm glad you made this video. When YouTube has better doctors than Johns Hopkins....

I've had two seizures so my doctor ordered an MRI and they found bilateral maxillary sinus retention cysts. One of my mom's friends has a daughter who started having seizures just like I did, and they ended up finding the same cysts in her sinuses. They had the cysts removed, and she stopped having seizures.

Thank you!! I recently had an MRI scan for headaches and brain fog. Everything came back normal except the Mucous Retention Cyst was seen in left maxillary sinus. I was confused on what that was, since i got my results in paper by the hospital because my doctor was taking forever to call me about the results so i went ahead and got them myself. This video answered my doubts, thanks!!

There is a huge cyst on left side and as per reports the differentials include :odontogenic keratocyst, dentigerous cyst and unilocular ameloblastoma. They are saying removing of bone as its eroding along with this water filled cyst and even upper part of mouth.
But can't only enucleation be enough.

So the lightheaded & dizzy spells are a symptom of this potentially?

Hi thanks for the details provided, i had a CT scan in a checkup and there were 2 cysts observed in left maxillary sinus, 15x10mm and 6x6mm, and i do hobby singing, my question is, what would be the possible implications of them in terms of how voice resonates? Logically to me because they took space in the cavity it would have negative impact, but i would like to hear whether the impact is small or significant, because i don’t know when they have accumulated(could be even before i start singing) i don’t have a sense of it. Thanks in advance.

I have a retention cyst first located by MRI of the sinus. When I first awaken in the morning and stand up, gravity causes the sinus fluid that has built up over night, because of the cyst, to suddenly all starts to flow down the back of my throat at once. This makes me feel like I'm drowning in my own sinus fluid and start choking to expel the thick fluid. This experience can go on for several minutes before I can get a good breath once again. I no longer panic because I know it will end shortly. Only on one occasion did it last long enough for me to become dizzy. This has been going on for years and happens 9 out of 10 days of my life.

1:58 had one removed yesterday.. Found on mri for something else, my surgeon said to get it out and have a biopsy to see what it is?.. Awaiting results.. Surgery was quick, not to painful the day after just some bleeding. To be honest I wanted it out of my face it was quite noticeable.

Is a mucocele cyst something to be concerned about? You talked a lot about retention cysts, what about mucocele cysts?

If it is to the point of very heavy pressure that extends into the eye and headaches, is a wait and see approach still advised (like is there a chance it will decrease in size by itself despite being quite large)? Would surgery be advised in this case? It kinda came out of nowhere for me but pain was made worse by covid illness.
