Crime Weekly News: Pennypack Park Arrest Leads to DNA Breakthrough

46 year old Elias Diaz was arrested on Sunday, December 17th after three people were attacked by a man with a large knife on Pennypack Trail in Philadelphia. Now police are saying that DNA from Diaz has tied him to more than one unsolved crime that has haunted the local community for decades.

2023 has been the worst year. My baby brother passed away, I had to watch my mother go thru a bunch of stuff, my husband got sick and had to quit working so we had no income, we almost lost everything we had worked for. Heres to 2024! Thank God we got thru 2023

My aunt was raped in Pennypack Park some time in the mid to late 1990s. She was relatively old at the time -- in her 60s.
She passed away in 2017. I know there was a series of rapes in Pennypack around that time. I am wondering how many of the cases will be connected to this guy, now. He would have been in his 20s at the time my aunt was attacked. From what I recall, the man who jumped her came up from her from behind and put a bag or sack over her head so that she could not identify them.

Overall, Pennypack Park is a great place to hang out, throw a frisbee around, see free concerts, ride bikes, etc. I hsve had some great times there. As a female I'd be wary of walking the trails on my own, though.

2023 was the worst year of my life because I lost my mom in September 💔😢 It has been THE HARDEST thing I’ve ever had to go through, still going through it, but I know she’s not in pain anymore and she’s with my mema and papa her parents and she’s at peace ❤ CW got me through some pretty rough hours and I’m forever grateful for that and for you Stephanie and Derek 💖 I hope 2024 will be a better year for all of us 🥰😘❤️

I love Derrick, he's such an optimist!! Yeah, 23 sucked so bad for me, BUT as he said, I grew as a person exponentially! At the end of 22, I FINALLY decided to seek therapy. What a great decision that was. It has helped me so much and I'm still going because in that year, I've only scratched the surface! Kudos to you, Derrick, for reminding me that even in bad, there's a positive!

I agree 2023 can suck it! But I am grateful for you two! I subscribe to criminal coffee twice a month and now have friends going to order. I gave samples because it is the best coffee! I am a coffee snob so yeah. Also the contributing to a very worthy cause makes it even better. This past month and a half has been heart shattering for my husband and I with the loss of two of our three dogs a week apart. These are our babies, my ❤ and sanity! It has been awful. I appreciate the distraction y’all offer me helps immensely. Stephanie’s last coffee and crime was amazing with her animated dark humor warms my broken heart. Sounds bananas (LOL😂)but, really your podcasts help more than you know. Thanks to both of you for all you do. Sorry, long comment.
