It's shocking what they've done to the Hill of Allen (@ 2:34). Roadstone has been allowed to quarry away half of the ancient hill. Environmental desecration on a mega scale. It feels eerie now up at that summit, beside the tower.

What a pity to see such a disgraceful wound in the hill of Allen. This was, unfortunately allowed to happen by our politicians and councillors. This hill was such an important part of our ancient mythology. As a young schoolboy in Holycross Co. Tipperary our headmaster told us of Fionn McCumhaill and his army 'Na Fianna' camped on the hill of Allen and trained on the Curragh Years later when I was posted to the Curragh I viewed this hill with reverence and happy memories of my primary school days. I still view what is left of it with the same reverence. Unfortunately, soon there will be nothing left of it to revere...!!!
