The student in this video has had 4 hours of lessons total. One key factor to his success is having fantastic kite control. The better your kite control is the better and faster you will progress at kiteboarding.

For our full in depth analysis on kiteboarding transitions, check out our blog post here:

****Key Point****
Almost come to a stop by edging the front of the board into the wind, keeping the kite low and in front of you and pushing out on the bar
---- Most mistakes we've seen is from people bringing the kite up too soon then you don't have enough power in the kite to get you riding in the next direction

Good video. It will be helpfull to show both sides, going to the left, going to the right. Thanks for the video.

My transitions are AWFUL ... I'm just 'teabagging' my turns. Until now I've been trying to get the kite right up overhead as I slow ... but then as I bring it down it falls into the area upwind of the power zone and I sink. You're saying ... just turn the kite back after slowing by sheeting out and angling the board upwind. I see your student sort of 'slide-turns' ... fine, I'll be trying this tomorrow at Tampa Sunshine Bridge for sure. If it works I'll be quite grateful for the tip. But what do you do when wind is strong and you can't slow enough with kite low?
