Microsoft Edge's New Screenshot Feature: Privacy Concerns and How to Disable It

Microsoft is testing a new feature in its Edge browser that will take a screenshot of every website you visit and save it in your browser history. This feature is currently only available in the Canary and Dev versions of Edge, but it is likely to be rolled out to the stable version in the future.

The purpose of this feature is to make it easier for users to find websites they have visited in the past. When you enable the feature, screenshots of the websites you visit will be saved in your browser history. You can then hover over a website in your history to see a preview of its screenshot. If you are concerned about privacy, you can disable the screenshot feature in Edge.

To disable the screenshot feature, follow these steps:

Open Edge Canary or Edge Dev.
Click the three dots in the top right corner and select Settings.
Click Privacy, Search & Services on the left side.
Scroll down to the Save website screenshots for the history option and make sure the slider is set to Off.
