For all those who are not familiar with the speaker. He is Dr. Abdullah Hakim quick. He is no ordinary person in regard to history as he is has a PhD in History from the University of Toronto. He has appeared as a guest lecturer in many universities in Canada and abroad. His knowledge not only comes from studies in school but by travel and learning from the natives of the countries. He has travelled to over 58 countries to do research and and deliver lectures. Thus he's not a person one can refer to as a person talking nonsense.

Islam came to Somalia 🇸🇴 while Rasullah was still alive, during the Hijra to Habasha. There is still a masjid(but in ruins) left in Saylac, Somalia 🇸🇴 in the northern Coast called Masjid al-Qiblatayn. Saylac was a ancient somali port city at that time, not part of the Habasha empire of Nejasi..I heard stories from my elders that we Somalis embraced Islam through Jaffar ibn Abu Talib(and the other companions that were with him during the 2nd Hijra) and that some stayed and married somali women, but Allah knows best. The sheikh in this video is truly correct about the fact that all people before Islam believed in Tawheed. At that time, before the arrival of Islam, Somalis believed in a god called Waaq. We didn’t have idols and believed he was the god up in the heavens. It makes sense why we Somalis as a nation easily embraced Islam when it came to us.

I am from Philippines, our ancestors are from Malaysia and Indonesia, they were all Muslims until Magellan came to philippines and cristianized the majority, some region fought back and remained Muslim. Thats why Muslim Filipinos has arabic names and my own native dialect is 50% arabic because of the influence of The Quran .

Wallahi I just got goosebumps. I can't even speak properly because I feel like if I open my mouth I'm going to start crying. The struggles those people went through so we can live at our current times peaceful. We need to remember that there was no planes or trains or cars. For these blessed people to go to the opposite sides of earth whilst spreading Islam how strong does ones will power have to be?? This is a journey that takes may years, they leave their homes knowing they wouldn't return there. They leave everything behind for the sake of Allah. I can't stop tearing at this. And what do we do in return?? We fight between us. Call other Muslims Non-muslims because of their beliefs being slightly different than ours. Some of us despite being born as Muslims leave Islam for a different religion because of minor things such as their prayer not being accepted. My fellow brothers and sisters ..don't let their hard work their sacrifice go to waste and hang on tight to your deen not matter what happens. There's a hadith that says Allah would test people that he likes with hardship, it happened to the Prophets and the people before us. So if you're going through hardship of any sort just know that it's only a minor test from Allah because he likes you. May Allah Bless this Sheikh for bringing us this untold history that wouldn't be found elsewhere and May Allah reward all these who contributed to the spread of the deen and grant them the highest levels of Jannah and May Allah make all of us of these who follow them there. Ameen.

Before islam spred to somali in east africa they belived in 1 God called waqq. so i guess when they got word of the prophet S.A.W they accepted pretty easlily

The secret behind spreading the islam so quickly compared to other religions is the global nature of the the message it carries, besides that unlike other religions it is a full system of life that touches different aspects social, economical, political and Military. people endorse it because it frees them from worshiping false deities other than the true God " Allah " it is the religion of love and peace. Just I want to give a few advice to some people hate Islam.
Please if you want to know Islam, Fucos the Teaching of Islam Religion as what I did . Don't fucos of what muslims do because muslim is a person who follow the Religion of Islam...and sometimes they will disobey the instructions from the Qur'an.

But The Religion Islam has a proper guidance to all human being, teaching us on how we live in this world and what we can do here in this world for us that we can bring in the hereafter if we will die.

This video reminded me of an article that I read recently "one God many names". Highly recommend reading it to those who are sincerely seeking for metaphysical truth. The more I read about all religions and analyze their sacred texts the more I realize that God indeed has sent monotheistic messengers to all nations.
