I feel like most AJR fans at some point have considered what an Overture for literally all of their songs would sound like. This basically realizes that concept and it could not have turned out any better. Amazing job :D

It actually upsets me that none of AJR's music has ever been in a YouTube Rewind!!!

Edit: Woo hoo! Big summer blow out?

Lyrics that I think are mostly correct:

Intro:
Been thinking, I feel I'm sinking-
You'll sail the ocean, finding where you should be
And in my corduroys, we'd walk to school (Okay)
I sat and crossed my legs like Jim would do (I don't wanna move on)
To give me some diagnosis of why I'm so hollow
Please give me instructions, I promise I'll follow
I tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
But doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
I try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
But after an hour, it sounds like complaining
Wait, don't go away, can I lie here forever?
You say that I'm better, why don't I feel better?
The universe works in mysterious ways
But I'm starting to think it ain't working for me
Doctor, should I be good, should I be good, should I be good this year?

Part I:
(How's it go again?)
Can we skip to the good part?
(How's it go again?)
'Cause I'm still turning out
(How's it go again?)
(ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
It really doesn't seem like there's anyone for me
Where my haters, where my haters?
I don't got 'em, I'm not famous, no
I already went and took my temperature
It don't matter what my name is
I don't got one, I'm not famous, no
And I'm not sick, I'm just kinda different

yo-del-lay-ee ho
And I don't hate it, no
Now it feel so
(OKAY)
Yo-del-lay, yo-del-lay-ee ho
Yo-del-lay, yo-del-lay-ee ho
Yo-del-lay, yo-del-lay-ee ho
And I don't hate it, no (OKAY)
(ah-ah-ah-ah-ah) (The entertainment's here)
(ah-ah-ah-ah-ah) (ah-ah-ah-ah)
And I don't hate it, no

You never heard of me or the weird shit I do and say
That's my favorite thing, that I'm not famous, no
(yo-del-lay-ee ho)
And I'm not sick, I took all my vitamins
Yeah, I'm not sick, I'm just kinda different
What doesn't kill you makes you ugly
Life gives you lemons, at least it gave you something
It don't matter what my name is
I don't got one, I'm not famous, no

Part II:
It's thirsty, thirsty, thursday
So thank you
For coming to my birthday party
I am one-minute-old today
My oh my, I don't gotta hit the lotto
'Cause I gotta lot of loving for free
(Yep, yep, yep, yep) (OKAY)
Just a boy who's telling a girl-
And everything is going great and I hope it stays that way
When you talk it's like "Oh oh, it's the loneliest life that we live
Oh oh, we're not running with the pitchfork kids"
This life is funny, it don't make sense
You've got it all figured out, you're still a mess
You wonder what they did before inventing the phone
Yeah, how could anybody face the quiet alone?
I'd rather be in Vegas than my very own home
Yeah, my cash’ll be gone, but my mind’ll be blown
Cities pass like kidney stones
And you're the one I'm looking for
It's so wrong, and so you-

Part III:
Come hang out, everything is fine
Come hang out, everything is fine
My calling, my calling
Never spoken with my mouth full
Yeah that's a mouthful and I'm doubtful
That I could get these lyrics out, oh
'Cause I think fast but I sing slow
I'm not one to take it fast
I got the best seat back in history class
One last chance to make it real
Baby, I wanna tell you how I feel
It's not your fault you don't feel safe
It's not your fault so don't take blame
All my role models are on TV for the wrong reasons
But when we cry, we cry together like it was meant to be
But, I'll be there next time
Is it normal to stay here (better) and wish that I was back at home (better)
And I'll be next up forever, (better) 'cause I don't know what's coming next
Who am I to tell me who I am (better)

(ah-ah-ah-ah-ah) Wonder where we're going
(ah-ah-ah-ah-ah) Tell me who I am
I'm a good pretender
(Ba-Da-Da) (Ba-Da-Da)
(Welcome to the Neotheater)
(Let's go out with a bang)
I'm just like you, do you like me too?
And now I'm just like you- (Here we go)

Part IV:
No thank you is what I should've said
I should be in bed (Let's go out with a bang)
But temptations of troubles on my tongue
Troubles yet to come
I get up, I get down and I'm jumping around
Y-y-yeah it's so strange to have a bit of success
And the rumpus and ruckus are comfortable now
Wh-wh-what if someday you say who the hell is that?

(But I'm weak)
And we're just children in a world of diversion
Tryna stick it to the man before we're grown
And we're just children in a world of diversion
Tryna stick it to the man before we're grown
Okay, this all could be over by the next day
So should I make famous friends?
Now our song plays in the produce aisle
What if some day you say, "Who the hell is that?"
But I'm way too young to lie here forever
I'm way too old to try so whatever
But I'm weak, and what's wrong with that?
Boy, oh boy I love it when I fall for that

Part V:
(Go breaking- breaking my heart)
(Go breaking- breaking my heart)
(Go breaking- breaking my heart)
(Go breaking)
Tell me that ready and you're feeling the vibe (Are you ready?)
We'll arrive behind a hashtag sign (Are you ready?)
Remember when we all got drunk?
I ended up with two broke thumbs
Baby girl, looking fine
Watch you playing and playing and playing these guys
I wrote- I wrote a song that no one knows
I played- I played a show and no one showed
Someday I'll be so damn sublime
We'll arrive behind a hashtag sign
When all is going wrong and you're scared as hell (Are you ready?)
What ya gonna do, who you gonna tell?
Maybe, a- (They're better off without you 'cause the man aint me)
(Are you ready?)

A hundred bad days made a hundred good stories
A hundred good stories make me interesting at parties, yeah
No, I ain't scared of you
No, I ain't scared of you no more
What can I do (La-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, da, da)
To get back to you (La-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, da, da)
And help us to find a home (La-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, da, da)
To search the Green and Town
I won't forget you, but I may forget your name
And though I may be missing the feel of you
I think I probably wasn't in love with you
Screw your thing, it goes like this

Part VI:
'Cause I wanna move out, I don't wanna move on
'Cause I wanna move out, I don't wanna move on
(Ah, ah-ah, ah, ah-ah, ah-ah)
When did my friends get so loud?
(Ah, ah-ah, ah, ah-ah, ah-ah)
When did my friends get so loud?
When did all my friends become so loud?
We act like reality shows
Probably 'cause reality blows (Don't throw out my Legos)
My friends always pay for my drinks
I can't afford no nice things
Been waiting for today, but
All I can think to say is
Oh no, I feel so broke up
Don't throw out my Legos
Oh no, no, I feel so broke up
What if I come back home
It’s cold out there (Bummerland)
You’re standing there (Here I am)
You’re trying to face your greatest fear
You’re shivering (Bummerland)
You’re trembling (Give a cheer)
It’s warm in here, so come back in
I feel so broke up
'Cause I wanna move out
I don't wanna move on
GO!

Oh no, don't throw out my Legos
What if I can't let go?
What if I come back home, back home?
Take you walking through the garden
Take my heart when summer comes
Dad (My Dad)
My Dad
Way up, way up to the moon
Boy it's good to know I got a bud like you (Let the games begin)
Should I go for more clicks this year?
Or should I follow the click in my ear?
Should I go for more clicks this year?
Or should I follow the click in my ear? (Let the games begin)
Should I go for more clicks this year?
When everybody here is sneaking in and getting high (Let the games begin)
Or should I follow the click in my ear?
Boy it's good to know I got a bud like you

Part VII:
This hospital's got lots of cryin' kids
A minute ago, I did not exist
It's nice to finally meet my relatives (It's nice to finally meet my relatives)
Used to keep it cool
Used to be a fool
All about the bounce in my step
Watch it on the news
Whatcha' gonna do?
I could hit refresh and forget
Used to keep it cool
Someday they'll be talking about me
Right now they're just walking around me
My God, are you growing without me?
Somebody help me (Somebody help me)
(Used to keep it cool)
Way up way up we go
Been up and down that road
[I know you like me, the way that I like you]?
They wanted heaven
Everything is fine (I gave 'em hell)
They wanted something
Everything is fine
I'm a little kid, and so are you (Just a boy who's telling a girl)
Don't you go and grow up before I do
You've got your good things, and I've got-

Frankly, I’m scared of clowns (Way-up)
And get-togethers get me down (I’m just the messenger)
But when you talk, it’s like, "Wow, I’m not crazy"
We gon’ burn the whole house down
Used to hang my head low
Now I hear it loud
Every stranger from Twitter is gonna burn, burn, burn, burn
We gon’ burn the whole house down
Celebrate
Everybody cele-brate
Celebrate
Oh everybody
I don't wanna move on
And I hope it stays that way
I'm a little kid
Growing up is so hard
Do you wanna be there?
I know I gotta grow up sometime
That's just how it is (next time, next time, next time...)
And I'm still turning out (next time, next time, next time...)

I love how this remix tells a story that's both fitting for AJR yet original. At the start, we get the profile of a musician in therapy, paranoid something wrong and failure is right around the corner. WE get taken back to the early days of their career, when they were an unknown obsessed with the idea that popularity was success. They get a little success, but at the cost of alienation- still, they continue on. Not everyone is that lucky after all, they should run with it. They starts getting even more famous, to the point they finds themselves fraternizing with other famous people. Yet they're more and more emerging into this world of superficiality, all while self doubt starts to creep in. The turning point comes when they find a childhood picture and are transported back to memories of then. Memories where he was either ignored or berated, never good enough. Suddenly, prior events get new context- they DID make it, thanks to their own will and efforts. Yet in the end the point was never about the success, fame, fast cars, or radio hits; they were yearning for a community to be a part of. The final "I'm still turning out" then marks a new chapter, one where he realizes what he needs, while not bemoaning where he's been.

AJR just affects me in a way no other artists manages to do. I won't stand by every AJR song ever made, but the ones that I like just give me a comfortable cozy experience that no other song can give me. I will never understand why AJR is hated by so many music critics, and I am so excited for Ok Orchestra to be released on March 26th. That album is going to be
