Brad Pitt's 'Fury' Sherman Tank Museum
Показать описание
Brad Pitt's Fury star Sherman tank T-224875 (M4A2E8) kicks-up the dust having just heard that it is going to play the leading role in 'Fury' alongside Brad Pitt. Is that Brad having a drive? Maybe not. Probably Brian Frost or Ian 'Buzz' Aldridge, the Tank Museum mechanics who had the job of preparing the tank for the film - and doing the real driving. (Google the Bournemouth Echo site for more information on these two). By chance caught doing a circuit of the Tank Museum display arena in Bovington, Dorset, England, UK, on August 22nd, just before filming started in Hertfordshire/Oxfordshire in September 2013. This is one of over 50,000 of these WW2 tanks - only out-produced by the Soviet T34. Shermans were first brought into production, in October 1941, in the USA, at the Lima Locomotive Works, as a tank for British use. The second production tank is now in the Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, UK. First combat action for the Sherman was with the British 8th Army in the Western Desert at the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942. Service with the U.S. forces began in operation Torch - the invasion of Sicily. The M4 initially had the advantage over the Axis tanks but was then out-gunned as the Panzers saw further development. Panzer IVs and Tigers with high velocity guns could take-out a Sherman from 2000 yds. Shermans could only take out the German tanks, with their thicker armour, with a shot to the rear from under 600 yards. Designed for speed and tactical advantage they were lightly armoured and powered with highly inflammable gasoline engines. However, deployed in their thousands, supported by air-strikes and manned by crews prepared to make the best of the situation they played their part in the eventual defeat of the Axis forces. Crew of five: commander, driver, co-driver, gunner, loader. Three in the turret. 75 mm gun (initially) 76mm in this model. Armour piercing (AP) or high explosive (HE) shells. Filmed on location in Dorset with a Panasonic Lumix. Edited with Serif Movie Plus X6. Please share and like if you enjoyed this clip!
