I think the obvious answer is no. What are these writers doing?

Only if he somehow convinced the wife he was actually her husband. Like he had Scooby Doo mask on or something.

I love this show but hated this episode. Pretending be a big shot to get sex? Despicable; maybe. The way the guy was doing it was EXTREMELY despicable but was it criminal?I don't know. And the SVU detectives were acting very self-righteous on that matter especially the women (though I do understand why.) And the defense lawyer did bring up a good point; the mom slept with who she thought was the dean of the university to get her son into the university which is a decision that is supposed to be based on hard work and merit; like a poor kid who gets straight As and genuinely works extremely hard doesn't get in because somebody else's mom slept with the admissions dean or whose parents bribed the dean (of which the REAL dean never did.)

And yes I am aware of rape by deception laws.

This is the worst episode ever. All this episode proves is that people are confusing regret with rape. Just because you regretted or got upset with the person you just had sex with doesn't mean you say they raped you. The 21st can be really sickening.

And I thought that the Legitimate Rape episode was crazy but this is worst 😡

I understand that what he did wasn't really a crime but it's not the same to pretend to be successful or whatever to get women but pretending to be an important man in a University to get sex, because he knew the mothers don't see another way...the diffrence is that in the first one the women acually want sex by their own and on the second the women do it for their children not because they actually want to.

Looks the writers were taking a break from crime on this episode. Well 20 years in everyone is entitled to a holiday.
