it's almost been a year since I was making applications to postgraduate courses, and since it's that time when students are starting to apply for master's, PhD's and other post graduate courses, I thought it would be a good idea to make a video talking about how to write a successful personal statement. I have already made a video sharing my tips on how to choose and how to apply for master's courses. Currently I am studying my master's at King's College London in Translational Cancer Medicine. This master's course is an MRes (which is master of research) and I absolutely love. I know the application process can be daunting, will all of the researching into courses and writing a personal statement, but I hope that the tips that I share with you in this video can help you with writing your personal statement!

The Questions
1. Why do you want to study this course?
2. Why have you chosen this particular institute?
3. What initially sparked your interest in this area?
4. What experiences do you have? (first or second hand)
5. What is your overall purpose for doing this course?
6. What skills are required and do you have them?
7. What specific method or techniques are required for this course?
8. Wha would you get out of this course?
9. What are your future career goals, and how will this course help?

The Tips:
1. State your intention right at the start
2. Adopt the "hourglass" structure (in the order of the questions given)
3. Be sure to "talk up" the institute you're applying for
4. State what you have learnt from your experiences
5. Don't overuse "passion", "enthusiastic", or "interested"
6. Don't sound like a "know it all"
7. Be as Authentic and as Genuine as you can!
